What is heat stroke?
Heat stroke is a severe and potentially life-threatening case of becoming overheated. It can lead to dehydration, seizures, coma, cardiac arrest, and in some cases, death, if not treated promptly.
What causes heat stroke?
Heat stroke is the result of your dog not being able to cool himself properly.
Dogs pant to cool themselves off, and this is only effective up until a certain point.
Prolonged exposure to the sun, being trapped in a hot car, insufficient access to drinking water, and excessive exercise during hot days can all lead to heat stroke.

This is a tough topic. Something we don’t ever want to think about but I think this is important to know for when the time does come.
How do you know when it’s time to say goodbye to your dog?
Our dogs can’t tell us when they’re ready. And we hate having to make that decision for them because what if they aren’t ready?
Besides, we're never ready so it makes it even more difficult.
I recently heard this and I thought it was such a great way to determine when your dog is ready and I wanted to share it.
You can either do this now while your dog is happy and healthy or save it for th ..read more

Did you know you should take your dog’s collar off when you leave them, especially if you leave them in a crate?
The collar can easily get caught in the crate. This causes the dog to panic and start twisting to try to break free which then can lead to strangulation.
It’s rare, but it happens.
This almost happened to Ryuk when he was a puppy but thankfully I was right there and saw it right away.
Even if you don’t leave your dog in a crate you should still remove their collar before you leave or when you're leaving your dog unattended. Basically, don't leave your dog's collar ..read more

Dental diseases are one of the most common medical problems in dogs.
One way to help prevent dental disease in your dog is by brushing their teeth daily.
And why use store bought dog toothpaste that contains chemicals and weird ingredients that you don’t understand when you can easily make a better option at home?
All you need to make dog friendly toothpaste is a food processor, 3 TBS of baking soda, and ¼ cup of organic coconut oil.
You can mix it by hand but if your coconut oil is more solid it will take longer. But just make sure everythi ..read more

Dogs don't typically wear shoes like us people do.
So when they're walking around they're actually absorbing a ton of chemicals through their paws whether it's the chemicals someone sprayed on their lawn, sidewalk salt during the winter, or the chemicals in the cleaning products you use in your home.
While you can't control what other people do about using chemicals, you can at least control the types of cleaning products you use in your home.
You also don't want your dog to wear shoes every time they go outside because then they will be conditioned to not touch foot outdoors without thei ..read more
