Kelly and the Argos kept denying the allegations up and down.  Seems like the independent investigation found the allegations were credible enough to make the CFL take action. The dispute hasn't gone to court (yet) and isn't criminal in nature, so I presume this means Kelly won't be kicked out of the league. I wonder what this is going to do to the Argos' season now? They'll need to rely on Cameron Dukes for half the season.  Dukes looked reasonably good playing in 6 games last year, so the Argos should be fine, though they'll probably be a step or two back from being the league's t ..read more

Nathan Rourke claimed off waivers by New York Giants Canadian quarterback Nathan Rourke has been claimed off waivers from the New York Giants, per sources. The 25-year-old was waived by the New England Patriots on Monday, which came after the team selected two quarterbacks in the recent NFL draft: Drake Maye at third overall and Joe Milton in the sixth round. New England also signed veteran Jacoby Brissett in free agency, giving him $5 million in guarantees on a one-year contract. The Giants didn’t select a quarterback in the recent NFL draft and have only three other quarterbacks current ..read more

Moxey can easily be replaced by Houston.  They have a ton of DBs, and many have successfully started in the CFL.  The Stamps also unearth one or two starting calibre DBs through their recruiting. Moxey and Roberson were both due to take pay cuts after their disappointing seasons last year.  Roberson took his, it looks like Moxey refused and now will be looking for work elsewhere.  Someone will give him an opportunity, but he may have to wait a bit. I don't see they going Canadian at safety on day 1.  LaBrosse has talent, but is very raw.  He didn't even pla ..read more

Stamps snag two receivers: The Calgary Stampeders have added a pair of receivers to their training camp roster, signing American Erik Brooks and Canadian Maxim Malenfant. Brooks spent six seasons at Fresno State University, earning honourable mention All-Mountain West honours as a senior in 2023. Over 52 career games, the five-foot-seven, 170-pound speedster caught 128 passes for 1,548 yards and 10 touchdowns, while also returning 20 punts for 172 yards and one kickoff for 35 yards. Malenfant went unselected in the 2024 CFL Draft out of the University of Ottawa, where he recorded 37 career r ..read more

Squirrel wrote: ↑ 7:20 PM - 2 days ago I noticed a couple of our picks could be signed by NFL teams, is that right? A couple guys have mini-camp invites, but those almost never amount to anything.  Tanner has been drafted by the NFL and likely never plays in the CFL.  If he does fall out of the NFL, he'd be an amazing catch for the Stamps. statistics: Posted by Childress — 8:08 PM - 2 days ago ..read more

That draft was a bit of a shocker! I guess our top 2 picks could be pretty good but they definitely weren't anyone I had envisioned. A lot of good players went between 13 (our previous 2-2nd round picks) and 28 (our next pick after the trade). I sure hope that trade was worth it! DD said after the 1st round that the Stamps will be looking for a free agent OL soon to fill the remaining hole? Doesn't sound like he got the picks he was hoping for. statistics: Posted by gregschmidt911 — 6:03 AM - Today ..read more
