It just got rockier. NE took a 2nd QB in the 6th round with Joe Milton III of Tennessee. They have 5 in the room now. Talking heads in NFL Network are speculating that Zappe will be traded. There could be a market for a team thinking of him as a #2 over their incumbents. Damn and I thought it was harsh when Doug Pederson spent all of last season saying how C.J. Beathard was his guy to back-up Lawrence (instead of Rourke) only to trade for Mac Jones as soon as he had a chance. So the best case scenario is Zappe gets traded and Nathan survives upcoming mini camps to be #4 on the TC depth ch ..read more

Nice to hear that Chris Rainey has landed a high school coaching job in Ocala, Fla. It was mentioned that he had been operating as the Chris Rainey Speed Shop which I found very appropriate. IMO he had great running form. Wishing him the best in the new job ..read more

The drafting of Milton (supposed cannon of an arm but with suspect other QB skills) does seem to make it even tougher for Nathan there. Even if the Pats un-load Zappe, there is still Brissett (journeyman type) with 1st rounder Maye in the wings and another draft pick (scouts there likely to hope for him). Or maybe they keep Zappe. Rourke ends up on another NFL team where he is behind the 8 ball = too bad. Kinda amusing his CFL film in that superb 2022 season means little to the NFL QB "experts', but that's par for the course there now. Alex Singleton goes from un-drafted / little regarded by ..read more

Harris won't need to run because instead he can just hand off or pitch out to Ouellette, one of the CFL's top RBs. Ouellette is probably doing sit-ups as I write this and good thing because he is going to get pounded. Him staying healthy will be a feat on its own. I do like him as a player but there is nothing that warrants him to be the highest paid import rb. Toronto came out ahead in that deal with Carey for less money imo. Of interest to me will be the play of Thomas Bertrand-Hudon and Bruno LaBelle. Those guys are the building blocks (literally) that they need to develop. I hope they d ..read more

Best of luck to the good fans of the Riders. They have been a patient lot and a credit to the league for the consistent show of support for their team. I agree that they are going to play Harris. It's not what I would do. If I am a defensive coordinator playing the Riders the first thing I think is he won't be running and will check down underneath more often than he will throw a deep ball. It may take away from Sam Emilus as a deep threat. Other qb's maybe not so sure about. As for a soft schedule, I pick Edmonton in week 1 and think they will have their hands full with Hamilton. Does the ..read more

Mace is a rookie HC with a rookie OC. He wants his HC career to get off to a good start. No way would he start out by entrusting his own job security in a totally unproven talent like Fine, in the most important position on the field, when he has a seasoned proven veteran like Harris. Risking things on Fine could earn Mace a one and done Claybrooks-like career. In the meantime Mace will ride with Harris thru this the final year of his contract. At that point they can decide if they can entrust things on Fine or Patterson or maybe they find out Jack Coan is their next franchise QB. By your ..read more

I recall Farhan saying how Rourke’s stock will drop as each NFL Draft passes and more college QBs enter the picture. Hardly a bold statement but last night we saw 6 QBs selected among the top 12 picks. More will be taken over the next couple days and all will be considered greater investments than an undrafted QB from the 2020 class. Rourke should at least land himself on a practice roster somewhere if he is the victim of the numbers game in N.E. But if doesn’t make any headway prior to the 2025 Draft then he may look at taking his career north again when he will be turning 27. With NFL eva ..read more
