I hope that your singing teacher gives you exercises to practice, and that you schedule times to sing. Try to memorize the exercises so you can have a variety of vocal warm-ups or workouts to choose from. I know I have my favourites. Please never get bored with practice! Always keep it fresh and always challenge yourself to improve! Here's an exercise I wrote around 1998 and I just made a fresh copy with instructions. I'm sure there are others like it but I haven't checked. I call it the HOME BASE SCALE because you always come back to the same note! Enjoy. If you share it, please respect owner ..read more

I like this meme because it's an interesting way to think about singing. We sing for all sorts of different reasons. I think of songs as ways of telling a story, of making social comments, a way to support or celebrate and so much more. Not necessarily to offer answers. It's OK to just provoke thought with a song, too! ♪♫

This is an academic paper I found on the internet about the history of colour scales. People have been trying to assign certain colours to notes of a scale for many centuries. An interesting read! #learnaboutmusic #musichistory #colorscales #colourscales #musicalcolorscales #musicalcolourscales #colorofmusic #coloursofmusic

Here's a quick singing tip about breathing in a song. But if you're performing a classical song or exam piece, please pay attention to where breaths are supposed to occur.

Can we get a shout out for what an exceptional singer Bruno Mars is? He is all about the music and the very definition of a musical warrior. He is doing what he was born to do and knew at the age of 4 he wanted to be a singer as he imitated Elvis. Bruno brings flavours of R&B mixed with classic Motown, sprinkled with some gospel and today's production values. And his singers. And the precision moves. And the musical arrangement. And the band! It's a bunch of magic. I watch this video now and again just to keep inspired! What's not to love? And students of singing: THIS is why we practice ..read more

Lindsay Adamson has a fantastic new country rock ballad she just released called "GET YOU BACK"! It's so cool. I love the chorus and keep singing it. Lindsay is a great singer who I had the pleasure of teaching when she was a teenager! Her career has such bright days ahead! She is a wonderful example of what a career as a singer is in this industry. She collaborates, practices, keeps her socials up, networks, is consistent with her brand, creates high quality content and all the other things an artist must do to get on the path of bringing your art to market.
Please listen, give this song a LI ..read more
