Hi all I am new to this forum and hoping to get chatting to some people who understand the rollercoaster journey that is dealing with anxiety. My own anxiety is primarily health based but I do suffer from generalised anxiety too and have found it hard to meet people who understand just how debilitating it can be. Are there many people from Ireland on this forum ..read more

I’ve been working in my current job for almost 12 years. A new person started a few months ago. Haven’t had any issues with them in the past. We both just get on with our job and have chats which were always nice and friendly. a person who is associated with my job called me on Sunday and told me that this colleague told them a rumour about me. They said that I had an affair with a married man and then blackmailed him for €20k. When challenged that it was lies they said that they had asked... Read more ..read more

Mentally ill in Ireland : a vicious cycle

The Irish system keeps mentally ill people in poverty because if you need medication in Ireland for mental illness, you really need a medical card or the medication would be hundreds a week. If you get a full time job you cant' have a medical card thus not being able to get your meds. So once you are on longterm meds , you can't get a full time job or you'd lose your medical card and not be able to afford rent meds food fags etc out of your wages ..read more

I am thinking about applying for my Irish citizenship. My grandmother was born in Ireland, and from what I have read and been told I have always wanted to visit. I often think about moving there. I live in the states my family on my father's side all came from Ireland. I would of course want to visit before moving there, but the idea has been in the back of my mind for some time ..read more

Hi. I'm posting this is the Ireland section as I'm Irish myself of course and I would like to see the Irish point of view. Since my wife and I have had children, both sets of grandparents have become more involved in our life, which was expected and the kids are lucky to have 4 grandparents nearby, but it's not without its problems. My wife's mother in particular is always pushing for holidays with the kids and hints heavily about coming along, when we're going away on our own family... Read more ..read more

Hi I just I like to say my experience with mental in Ireland was not great, as it seems to me the hse where I live have no permanent doctors. And the fact they depend on medication to help the people with issue's. They hope for over stretch nurse's to do want they can with little resources. There's is no other therapies available orther than medicating you up. Now I am not here upset anyone, if you any issues with your mental health please console your love ones or your gp. Just want to... Read more ..read more

Hallucinations about winking

Does anyone ever have hallucinations that involve people winking at them? I sometimes go through days at a time where I feel like so many people (strangers on street, shop assistants etc) are winking at me that it must not be really happening. I have no diagnosis, but it first started happening around a time when I was hospitalised for scans for suspected MS. Scans all came back negative and I wonder now was it all some sort of conversion disorder. My right eyelid was dropping at the time so... Read more ..read more
