EU Parliament to vote on final deal on Nature Restoration Law The European People’s Party has backed away from the law – but Fine Gael MEPs may break rank and support it. www.thejournal.ie A big fan of this. There needs to be a huge effort to restore some large wild spaces, in this country especially ..read more

Leaving aside the fact the world cup draw was an absolute shambles given our pool having 3 of the worlds top teams in the one group and a difficult route to the semis compared to the other side of the draw how do you reckon we'll do? Will we conquer all or exit at the Quarter Finals? I saw the Romania game today - mostly positive and it's hard to complain about 12 tries but there are a couple of areas that need work like our lineout ..read more

Now, we've had a lot of these threads before! Politics.ie and Boards seems to have endless threads on this nature. But I felt the need to vent about this subject as every time I set foot in Dublin the problem has escalated. My issue is that nobody seems to care about the air of menace in the city centre. The public complain but no one in power cares! Anti social behaviour from teenagers, aggressive begging, open drug abuse and drug selling and the methadone clinics dotted throughout the city... So I hope I'm creating this correctly, but I wanted to begin a discussion on Dublin at night. Walking around the city centre lately where I am living, I've noticed at night just how dark the streets are. Yes, light pollution is a bad thing too in some cities, but in a city of 1.2 million you'd think our main streets and core would be well lit during the darker hours. Also, many street lights seem to be broken now for a while, just not working and not fixed. Many are on key streets. I've... Dublin - Public Lighting ..read more

Surprised we don't have a thread on what is one of the Irish peoples' most beloved conversation starters - the weather! Today was a fantastic day here in Dublin - it was the same across the island except for those in the very far south, around Cork. It hit 25.5ºC at Phoenix Park this afternoon - the hottest temperature recorded this year! Hottest day of the year in Dublin CÍAN NIHILL Wed, Sep 28, 2011... Click to expand... Do people really expect this COVID stuff to still be impacting tourism and working patterns years down the line? I mean, maybe it will but I had assumed things would be more or less back to normal by then...? That said I'm sure there's a lot of people working from home who won't give up that lifestyle without a fight ..read more
