Richmond Heights School District sought to sort out myths from facts recently when it hosted one of what it says will be many public information sessions at the Upper School cafeteria. Around 30 people attended the April 20 session, which went over the failed tax levy from the March election, and the future of what Richmond Heights Schools will do to deal with what they foresee as increased students from Belle Oaks Marketplace, a new mega housing and shopping development. MLB shortchanging Guardians and their fans with 2024 schedule | Jeff Schudel
The News-Herald
by Jeff Schudel
1h ago
Maybe Paul Dolan forgot to send MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred a Christmas card in 2022. Or maybe baseball still holds a grudge because it took so long for Cleveland’s team to discard “Indians” for another nickname. Or maybe the baseball bigwigs simply have no regard for the passion fans in Cleveland have for good baseball. Whatever the case, baseball did the Guardians and their followers no favors by scheduling the Yankees and Red Sox to make their only 2024 visits to Cleveland in April. And those aren’t the only flaws in this year’s slate of games. “The Cle disrespect just keeps going. SMH,” P ..read more

The News-Herald

By GREG BEACHAM LOS ANGELES — Reggie Bush has his Heisman back. The Heisman Trust reinstated the former Southern California tailback as the 2005 Heisman Trophy winner on April 24, citing fundamental changes in the structure of college athletics during the 14 years since Bush forfeited the trophy and the honor. Bush gave up his Heisman following an NCAA investigation that found he received what were impermissible benefits during his time with the Trojans. College football players are now allowed to profit from their work in many ways, and the Heisman Trust decided it was time to move past the c ..read more

By JOSH DUBOW The No. 1 pick in the NFL draft already has traded hands, with Carolina sending it more than a year ago to Chicago in a trade to move up to take Bryce Young first overall in 2023. Based on recent history, plenty more first-round picks should change hands on April 25 with teams either looking to move up a spot or two for a specific player or to make a bigger investment with future picks to trade up for a franchise quarterback. Over the past five drafts, there have been 28 trades during the first day of the draft that included first-round picks, with five of those deals i ..read more

Cavaliers setting out to ‘steal a win’ in Game 3 against ‘desperate’ Magic
The News-Herald
by Jeff Schudel

The Cavaliers, since they have home-court advantage in the first round and have already won twice, can eliminate the Magic without winning in Orlando. But that would mean going through the grind of six games for the chance to win Game 7 at Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse on May 5. No one from the Cavs wants the series to go that long. The Cavaliers practiced April 24 at Cleveland Clinic Courts in Independence then hustled to the airport to board a chartered flight to Orlando, where they will face the Magic in Game 3 at 7 p.m. April 25 and Game 4 at 1 p.m. April 27.
