I'm about to go pick up this old proflex 550 off-road as a sweet little project for myself. Super hyped as its very cheap. However it also comes along with another red roadbike. Of course I'm happy to take it as it looks like it has reynolds 531 and campagnolo components (maybe). I would love to know more about the red racing bike if anyone has any idea? I cannot seem to read the decals or make them out ? Thanks! submitted by /u/Historical_bike-man [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

In the past couple of years now I've seen people, especially youtubers dismantling perfectly working vintage mountain bikes, we're talking GT's ,Marin's,Specialized etc on some cases high end groupsets LX, XT ,removing all the parts,in some videos actually trashing the groupsets and just leave the frame and "converting" to single speed bikes with modern parts from Amazon, and then say: "Hey, look at me,i just dismantled this old piece of Mountain bike history!" ..WTF? I don't get it i really don't? The bike soul is taken away,if you know what mean. If you want buid a single speed bike get fra ..read more

I got this sirocco frame for ONLY 60€. It feels super light and the tubes look like Gilco tubes but there is no sticker. Is there a way to be sure if it is Gilco tubing? And there is some kind of heart underneath the BB shell, does that indicate something? Another question I have would be if anyone knows something about the brand sirocco? All I could find out was that it seems to be a brand from the Netherlands. Do they maker good frames? And there's a name on the top tube of some previous owner but he seems to be a private person and no racer. And there are some kind of serial numbers on ..read more

Hi, I just bought this project bike. The brand seems to be MAXAM. I never heard of this brand and would like to know more about the bike. It seems to have a full sun to a group set and all overall good quality parts. submitted by /u/Funny_Pudding4356 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

What year is this Peugeot Triathlon?

I can't remember what year I bought it, but I know it was between 1985 and 1988. The number on the frame is Y712 10960. All the parts on it are original Shimano. I don't think I ever rode it after 1990. Nothing has been changed but the seat, handlebar tape and pedals. I'm going to attempt to sell it. According to my bike mechanic, the Shimano set is in excellent condition. Picking it up again after all these years, I'm blown away by how light it is. Like a feather. Especially as compared to my ebike! :-) Any idea what it's worth? Will need new tires and a tune-up. It's a size Small. I'd h ..read more

New tyres, brakes serviced and bled, new chain, new chain wheel nuts and a general set up and service. Had the bike for 20+ years, lent it to a friend hadn't seen it for 2 years, got it back last week. He paid for the parts it needed. Might update the wheels though, they ain't great, Chris king hub rear , Bontrager hub on the front, considering a new set of rims, rear has a few dents and the front is just old and heavy. submitted by /u/Houseofsun5 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Hello, I'm revisiting an old bike and have an identity problem. INFO; -not etched or engraved, just a well made sticker 3 pawls, with a type I haven't seen before QR, rim brake I've naturally lost one of the springs so knowing what it is would be helpful but j also think it's a interesting price of history so any information is welcome! submitted by /u/dum13as [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Anyone know anything about an "Ozark Rover", circa ~'93? I can't find any other bikes made under this name or any information about the company... It *doesn't* seem to be related to the recently-created "Ozark Trail" mountain bikes from Walmart or older Raleigh "Ozark"...
