I have what appears to be a Shimano aero bike frame with true aero seatpost. Similar ones were made by Araya incorporating Tsonuda designs maybe more. It had first generation Dura Ace installed so dates around late 70s to early 80s. I just can't find exact model or brand ..read more

Does anyone know much about Daccordi, it's history, build quality and ride? And what is it's place in the vintage Italian racing bike hierarchy? It's not part of the De Rosa, Colnago, etc pantheon ... but am guessing it's probably not obscure either ... I ask because this caught my eye and am wondering if it would be a great ride as well as a nice collectable -... Daccordi ..read more

Question on Look 595 Epost - does not tighten in frame

The good news is that since the seatpost slides in, it doesn't normally come out unless you pull up on the seat. But its a pain when you or someone is working on it. Supposedly the single titanium bolt causes the seatpost to "expand", but this doesn't happen on mine (which I've had (gulp) 16 years now. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks ..read more

In 1972, I purchased a newly restored and painted, what was thought to be a, Falcon San Remo true-10 speed from Bicycleville in Santa Monica; it was an abandoned child: the owner had placed a $155 deposit (in 1972 dollars); and, he never returned. The Bicycleville shoppe owner said that for $80 (in 1972 dollars) the newly restored and bright red painted Falcon would be mine. And, it was/is. I have contacted Falcon Cycles in England seeking the year the bike was manufactured and any... Falcon genealogy/family tree ..read more

Ambrosio Metamorphosis rims?

I've been riding this particular tubular model as my rear wheel for about two and a half years after I decided to play the stretch for a while and glue sew-up game for my bike. A couple of questions? 1.) Has anyone else out there in retro-land used these rims back in the day? What are your opinions? Mine were built as 36h straight gauge 3 cross. Not that I ride on bad roads or anything rough. 2.) I strictly use Conti Comp 25mm tires because they are fat and re-assuring--can a rim... Ambrosio Metamorphosis rims ..read more

Merckx Corsa (extra?)

Hi there, Could someone shed some light on these pictures, to determine if it's a Corsa, or a Corsa Extra frame. I am in the process of buying someone else unfinished project, the seller said it's a Corsa extra, but there are no specific names or columbus decals on the frame, other than the Merckx logo. I have to judge from the pictures, but the bike looks nice enough from what I can see. Best, vlckx ..read more
