Hi everyone. It’s been several years since I posted on the forum. I originally joined in 2014 after we added our fourth poodle, Sammy, to our family. I think the last time I was here, we had just said goodbye to our Cockapoo Sadie on March 21, 2018 after her fight with kidney disease. We adopted our Toy poodle Allie two days later, and I posted on the forum for advice on potty training, etc. So much has happened in the last few years, including the loss of my sister Cindy on December 11... my best friend Teddy! Oh how much I miss you. Been 2 weeks since your gone. Today the veterinarian called to pick up his remains. I came home and received his remains in a beautiful oak box with a engraved plaque with his name on it. I placed it on a shelf in my living room I proceeded to gather up the bag it came in wrapped so carefully and discovered another small package, inside was a paw print in plaster and a cutting of his hair. at that point... Kate our miniature poodle baby really helped him since he has grieved for months over his bonded best friend Jada our 14 year old yorkie who passed last July. My girl went to sleep at 4:17pm, May 25, 2022 at the University of Florida ER. She was my service animal. The things she could do for me. 61 days in I was able to cope. I do have a TBI from my military time so understandable. Last night she was in my dream, and we were happy. I thought I lost her at 61 days, but I think she is still here. I need to find another dog. AKC totally, poodle club of America, I think. That is for another thread. When I figure how to post photos there... Chloe died on May 25, 2022 ..read more

In memoriam: Kepler

I write to commemorate the life of Kepler the Spoo, 12/29/14-7/19/22 From the moment we picked him up in Canada, at exactly 8 weeks old, he was the sweetest, friendliest pup one could desire. He was so smart —he was potty trained from the onset, even during our 9-hour car ride home, although he had literally never been outside before that day (There was deep snow at the time.) My husband, Paul, never had a pet before, and hadn’t wanted a dog, but he was smitten from the moment he held... in memoriam: Kepler ..read more

Hi all, 2021 was just terrible; among other disasters and losses, my perfect Standard Poodle passed away. I can't get past her loss. I miss her so much every day and constantly think about her, talk to her and just miss her so much. I'd do anything to have her back. Anyone have any tips on getting past this? I fostered a dog from the local humane society, and he was wonderful, but he didn't fill the hole in my soul. I'm not looking for sympathy, but tips on how to get past this would... Our dog Gwen she was a rescue. She had a rough life at the start. She was owned by a drunk who frequently hit/starved her. Unfortunately it was a man who wore a hat like I do. Once the authorities were involved at my request I adopted her. She brought many years of joy to our family and only trusted us after a very long time. I had to remove my hat to get her anywhere near me. That was ok though she didn't judge my early balding lol.? I'll never forget the day she climbed into my lap... The queen of my heart.
