Most of you wont know him, but some "old timers" on this board might (from when my username was Melysion). I posted this on my facebook feed when he died back in July. ---- I actually dont like cats very much in general terms. I much prefer dogs, but my lifestyle doesn't permit me to have a dog, so I decided to take on hard to home cats instead. Toby was the first. He was FIV+ and I had him for four years. Ridley - well he had been in foster care for months before I adopted him, because... Ridley 2000-2019 - International cat of mystery ..read more

We adopted Otis the tabby cat 18 years ago. They told us he was 6 months old at the time, but he was full grown, so I was skeptical. He was returned to the shelter a few times. One of those people adopted Otis with his brother, returned Otis, but kept the brother. Claimed they had allergies. He has been a wonderful friend to my three sons as they were born and grew up. Otis was full of mischief, and not very smart. He made me laugh every day until I lost him. The vet told us to prepare... Otis ..read more

Semi-Feral goes home

Today my semi-feral crossed the bridge - pillowfoot that popped and infected. Could not catch or medicate. He was at least 10 years old. Once they sedated him I was able to pet him as I'd always wanted but he had been too frightened to accept. Being cremated. Ashes to be scattered here, his home place. He overcame great fear during the years he was here, and would come close to be fed. I could sometimes stroke his head and ears and he would purr. Safe travels, little guy ..read more

One of our cats, Cotton, died unexpectedly last night. My wife went up to our room around 8pm last night and was reading a book. Cotton was snuggling in with her, came down to get something to eat when I fed the cats and then returned to my wife shortly thereafter. I went up to bed at 9-10pm and we went to sleep. Cotton liked to sleep at my wife's feet/in between her legs. My wife got up around 1am to use the bathroom. When she was moving around she noticed Cotton didn't get up and... Cotton ..read more

Lost my almost 2 year old male British Long Hair

Judt happened so suddenly. No behavioural changes from the norm. He did have a bit of diarrhea for a week or two as he does have a sensitive stomach and we were transitioning foods. Last day he was cleaned up after a bad poop. He passed away on top of his cat tree in what seemed to be a relaxed resting/lazy position. Although not the desired stool, he was regular; same with urination. Appetite and water intake was always great and he had a good bute to eat. Googling doesnt always give you... Hi everyone, I’m struggling to cope with the sudden death of my sweet British shorthair 7 year old boy yesterday. I found him unresponsive at our back door yesterday, did cpr in the car on the way to the vet but unfortunately the vet said his heart wasn’t beating and there wasn’t anything they could do. She looked him over and couldn’t see anything strange other than his third eyelids showing. When I found him he was still warm and floppy. She thinks he may have been there for about 15... Goodbye to my beautiful floof-y Pia

Pia came into my life rather unexpectedly. I heard through a friend that an elderly woman about to enter hospice was looking to re-home her 3 year old Ragdoll cat. Having lost my Ragdoll, Louie, a few years back, I jumped at the chance to get another. When I went to see the cat, it was obvious she wasn't a Ragdoll, but a Persian mix. I was making excuses in my head on how to say thanks, but no thanks. Then she plopped Pia in my arms. She was a big, floof-y, gentle, silky-soft purr... Two weeks after my Snow Kitty left this world, my heart is as empty as my house is now. I sent my sweet Girly cat on her way tonight. When I got home from work I held her for about an hour. She was so sleepy from being sick and from some medicine I gave her to calm her. But I just held her and talked to her and petted her. And I held her as she left this world at the vet's office. The doctor walked me out... And Now My Girly Cat is Gone ..read more

My heart is broken into pieces. My Snow Kitty left our world this afternoon. He hadn't been eating lately and since Monday was very lethargic and weak. Blood work gave no definitive answers other than he was very sick, and long story short I sent him on his way. Snow Kitty, we've been together 12 years, ever since you...
