Why oh why!! I didn't know my Toby had diabetes, he showed no signs. When he took sick last weekend the vet thought it was a simple tummy bug. Turns out he had diabetes, which had developed into ketonaciosis. I had never heard of such a thing. He fought hard for 3 days, before we had to have him PTS. I can't bear the thought of not having him here by my side. There is a stillness and emptiness in the house which can never be replaced. He was my best friend, the one who i told everything to... My best boy Bongo was put to sleep yesterday afternoon. He was the best cat ever and this morning has been really hard as he was a huge part of our routines and now I have all this love for him and nowhere to give it to. I can't believe he's gone as it was so sudden. He was 13 and although I knew this tragic day would come, he was behaving normally with no signs of illness until overnight he passed blood in his litter tray. He still was walking around the house, not in any distress, coming... Miss him so much ..read more

Rainbow Bridge Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable. All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or... Rainbow Bridge ..read more

Goodnight, Blake. Or Blakey Tibblington Toebeans as I will always call you. You were my bestie for the last 14 years - and you were 10 years old when I adopted you! We always joked you’d outlive the Queen. Kidney disease may have made your last few weeks confusing, but I take comfort knowing you died in your sleep, warm and at home right where you should be. You are so loved, Blakey. Until we meet again, beautiful boy ..read more

My daughter's cat has been killed by a car. She's recovering from cancer and lives at the other end of the country. She's on her own. I don't know what to say, I don't know what to do, It seems pointless for me to travel a difficult 300 miles to Scotland just to give her a hug at my age (84) in the middle of a rail strike, but she's devastated. If you've just lost a well loved furry companion, can you tell me what helped you through - and what didn't? I don't want to make her feel worse by... Don't know what to do or say ..read more

Hi, I know I didn't post here much but I read often. People here were so kind when I posted my worries over the last few months. After a third bout of mast cell cancer, the most recent being diagnosed in February, we said Goodbye to Maya a few days ago. She was incredible and still found joy (mostly in food, being a labrador!) right up til the end but she began to suffer a little bit her last couple of days so we made the decision at the time that felt right, before she got worse. The... My Maya crossed the bridge ..read more

Made the heartbreaking decision to ask the vet to put my lovely boy to sleep on Tuesday. His health and quality of life hasn’t been very good for some time. After a lot of tears, thought, research and discussion with the vet I made the decision. It was peaceful and I was cuddling him as he fell asleep. Which he would have wanted as he loved our cuddles. I miss him so much and can’t stop crying and questioning whether I did the right thing ..read more

Today we said goodbye to the smallest but feistiest member of our family. We never thought we would get a cat, but she had other ideas and worked her way into our home and our hearts. She loved chin rubs, lickilix, vole chasing, catnip toys, KFC and naps. She had been poorly since we met her, but we did our best for her and hopefully gave her a good few years. Sadly we never found out quite what was wrong, or how to fix it, and she had had enough. Thank you to all on this forum for help... Melvin ..read more
