Hello all. I apologize in advance for the pedestrian question, but I'm on the hunt for an excellent performance DVD/Blu Ray of the Nutcracker ballet. I've got the NYC ballet 2016 performance: I have the 2012 Marinsky Ballet performance: But I'm on the hunt for something else. I'm thinking about the 2019 Royal Ballet mostly because I saw Marianela Nunez in Don Quixote and thought she was amazing. [ATTACH... Noob question - Nutcracker videos ..read more

I know he choreographed quite a few just wondering if they are all easily available in one place ..read more

I watched several version of this ballet (one live) and always felt the each time the music tells much more than what you see on the stage. Especially pas de deux of Act 2 which sounds in some parts like the whole world breaks apart. One wonders why a little girl dreaming about prince would have such... If you're an admirer of La bayadere or Don Quixote, it has often been difficult to find out much about their composer Ludwig Minkus. A new paperback edition of the only detailed study of the man and his work - The ballets of Ludwig Minkus by Robert Ignatius Letellier - has just been published. If you would like to know more, I have written a review of it for MusicWeb International that may be found here... The ballets of Ludwig Minkus ..read more
