I am reminded of 2 incidents where this became apparent to me.
First is when I visited the Sri Aurobindo Ashram in Pondicherry. The two most prominent qualities I observed wer ..read more

Let me share in very simple common man’s terms, what I mean by Sustainable design. Let me take the help of geometry to explain my point. How will we define a straight line? The distance between two points, isn’t it? Which means the two points are apart! Which means that
The beginning of the line is in one place and the end of the line is in another place. That is a straight line.

The difference between linear systems and cyclical systems is that linear systems are not i ..read more

If we follow Maslow’s hierarchy of needs – what are the needs of a human being?
What do we need from our buildings? What are the most basic things we all need from our buildings? We need a shelter, we need protection, we need stability and we need utilities like water, electricity, roads, infrastructure. These are our basic necessities.
Once these necessities are met, what do we need from our BuildingsAfter our necessities are met, we need comfort. We want visual comfort, we want day light in the right proportion, we want thermal comfort, we want acoustic comfort, we want good air quality.
