After launching our wine program last fall with an oak-aged Pinot Gris, we are thrilled to be releasing our first red wine: Pinot Noir. Thank you to everyone who came out to celebrate with us on Sunday!  What a fantastic party we had with hundreds of oysters, amazing music from Inner Limits, and most importantly, your smiling faces!! Earlier this year, we got together with barleywine specialists, New Image Brewing out of Colorado, to collaborate on a barrel-aged barleywine, that we’ve named #life unplugged. As we discussed our mutual interests and relative differences in approach, we devised a recipe for an English barleywine hybrid with a touch more flavor hopping in the whirlpool that started at a "lower" gravity (28 Plato) than New Image typically employs and racked it into a blend of Port and Cognac finished bourbon barrels and laid to rest in the cellar for 6 months before it was released in Colorado during GABF. After three years at the Fifth Street Public Market, Alesong is returning to its roots and a single tasting room at our countryside brewery location next to King Estate Winery. Our last day open to the public at Alesong on 5th will be Sunday, November 12, 2023. Releasing next Monday 10/9 at Alesong on 5th and October's Engage with Alesong charity beer! Alesong’s Cheers to the Land collaboration is one of 20 beers and ciders made as a benefit for the Oregon Agricultural Trust. Ours is a blend of oak aged saisons utilizing barley from Goschie Farms (Silverton, OR) and other adjunct grains from Hunton’s Farm and Camas Country Mill (Junction City, OR - wheat, rye, unmalted purple barley).
