We were all set to capture Kelli and Kevin’s wedding at the end of June this year in Chicago, but 2020 had other plans. And with their big celebration now scheduled for next summer, these two planned on throwing a small and intimate ceremony in Kelli’s parent’s backyard on their original wedding date with just their families and with no professional photographer. But Kelli’s mom had other plans! Kelli’s mom contacted us to surprise these two, and we were beyond thrilled by the opportunity to capture this once-in-a-lifetime moment for Kelli and Kevin. Ed made his way to Gull Lake (just outside ..read more

Intimate Chicago wedding ceremonies are the new black during these Covid times! The majority of our 2020 couples have been greatly affected by COVID-19—from putting major life plans on hold to navigating a “new normal” to deciding to postpone their celebrations to a time where they can dance the night away with their loved ones all under one roof. COVID-19 has definitely increased microwedding bookings, even while it has turned our (along with millions of others) world upside down in so many ways. It has disrupted plans, devastated small businesses, and instilled an unimaginable sense of uncertainty in many. We have navigated through situations we’d never have imagined. There have been many sleepless nights. But one thing continues to give us hope and is a constant reminder of how truly amazing things can still be: the compassion and overwhelming support from the people around us. We know we say it all the time, but seriously, OUR COUPL ..read more

Elle and Tom’s winter wedding was such a dream. These two didn’t want to do a first look, so we spent the morning and early afternoon making sure they didn’t see each other while taking portraits near Millennium Park. Elle and her girls were all laughs as they sprayed champagne, popped confetti, and were cheered on by the tourists at the Bean. Meanwhile, Tom and his boys (they are on a beer hockey league together!) ice skated at the Ribbon at Maggie Daley Park before doing portraits nearby. These two held their ceremony in the beautiful Saint James Chapel, and after bring pronounced husband an ..read more

Where do we even start with these two?? Not only are Maile and Rich incredible people with hearts of gold, but they know how to throw one hell of a party. These two just radiated pure joy and were nothing but big smiles all day. From a heartfelt first look to celebrating the night away, it’s safe to say Maile and Rich are a perfect match. These two started the day getting ready with their closest loved ones at the Renaissance Chicago Downtown Hotel. Maile sprayed a little champagne in celebration (hahaha!) and Rich relaxed with his fellow CPD crew. And as their wedding party looked on, they ha ..read more

Ed might not have been able to feel his fingers at the end of this session, but it was totally freakin’ worth it. There’s nothing like a snowy Chicago engagement session. Makaley and Jon were all snuggles on this cold winter afternoon at the Wrigley Building, but their pup was not a fan of the snow – hahaha just look at that face! And these two ended their session at the Ghirardelli Ice Cream & Chocolate Shop with some warm hot chocolate. Ed had so much capturing these two lovebirds, and is so excited for their big day at the Walden Chicago! Here are some of our favorites from Makaley ..read more

Sarah and Michael’s winter wedding in Chicago was undoubtedly timeless and downright stunning. Filled with so many heartfelt and sweet moments, Ed feels honored to have been able to document their wedding story. During getting ready, Sarah read a letter from Michael, and there wasn’t a dry eye in the room. The first look took place on the iconic staircase at The Art Institute of Chicago. From there, they explored the art exhibits, including the Nichols Bridgeway with the Chicago skyline beaming in the background. The ceremony took place at Room 1520, and before these two were married, they spe ..read more
