I'm Angie Moon, the founder of The Diversity of Classic Rock. My goal was to be a classic rock DJ just like my dad, who briefly was a DJ in the 70s. I accidentally became a writer and I found that I loved it because it's something that I'm creating, I'm teaching people, and preserving the knowledge of classic rock history. My blog is a classic rock preservation/appreciation..

Denny Laine, former member of The Moody Blues and Wings passed away on 5 December 2023 in Naples, Florida following a lengthy battle with interstitial lung disease, after catching COVID. A GoFundMe was set up by his wife, Elizabeth and there was recently a benefit concert held at the Troubadour in LA to raise money for his medical expenses. Rather than talk about his death, I’d rather talk about his life and remember the great music he gave us. I also want to share an old concert review I wrote when I saw him in Chicago in 2015. I think people would rather be remembered for the life they lived ..read more

60 years ago today, Jack Ruby shot and killed Lee Harvey Oswald, two days after the JFK assassination. Like 9/11 was to my generation, the JFK assassination was to boomers. Every boomer knows where they were when they heard the news. My dad recalled that he heard the news when he was at home having lunch (in those days, there was no cafeteria at the primary school and kids would walk home to eat lunch) and then his friend came in and saw my grandmother crying. The JFK assassination is one of those events that marked the beginning of the 60s. It shook the country.

While at a friend’s house I was looking through what’s on BBC iPlayer and I stumbled upon a documentary that I’ve been meaning to watch called Fanny: The Right to Rock. I saw it promoted all over social media, but with a lot of social media being very America-focused, I couldn’t find this documentary being screened in Ireland (where I was living at the time the documentary came out) so I was leaving it on my “to-watch list” for the time being. If you live in a big city in America, you’re a lucky duck. I had a similar moment with the David Bowie Moonage Daydream documentary and had to wait for ..read more

Recently, Squaring The Circle has been added to Netflix in the US and I decided to give it a watch and share my opinions. Previously I reviewed Us & Them: The Authorised Story of Hipgnosis by Mark Blake and Through The Prism by Aubrey Powell. So when I saw a poster of this film at the cinema, it piqued my interest because I love the art of Hipgnosis and I’m a big classic rock fan. But I didn’t have a chance to make it to a screening. So what are my thoughts? Read more to find out!

With Hipgnosis being arty kind of people, it’s fair that the opening shot is a black and white shot of ..read more

So I’ve finally got a book update that’s somewhat eventful and notable, I’ve finally finished editing my manuscript and oh boy was that a lot of work! Anyway, might as well write a meta post about it because a lot of people wonder what goes on behind the scenes of writing a book and I want to share the realities and give back to my fellow writers and creatives and share what I’ve learnt and from there we can all be better writers. Writing a book is fun, but it’s definitely far from the glamorous image that you imagine in your head. Unfortunately I was not in my fanciest clothes and laying on m ..read more

Introduction
I saw Buffy Sainte-Marie trending on Twitter and it was not for positive reasons. The beloved American/Canadian folk singer was recently the subject of a CBC Fifth Estate documentary that answers the question: “Who is the real Buffy Sainte-Marie?”. The bombshell is that they found her birth certificate that shows she was born Beverly Jean Santamaria in Massachusetts to Italian-American parents, Albert and Winifred Santamaria, hence where the Sainte-Marie comes from. The documentary shows interviews with some of Buffy’s relatives who accused her of lying about being adopted and hav ..read more

Happy Halloween! What better time to release a video teasing your upcoming true crime book than Halloween? I had this plan in mind from the start when working on my book. Ideally I would have released it around this time of year, but life happens and you gotta adapt and I came up with a new plan, start the promotion during spooky season, October and build up the hype from there. Are you hyped for my first book?
Anyway, like I said in my announcement blog post, I had a lot of tricks up my sleeve and creative ideas to get the word out there for my book. I didn’t want this to just be another clas ..read more

After a couple of years of me keeping tight-lipped and alluding to this very dark themed classic rock book, I am finally ready to share the topic of my book. If you’ve been following me on other social media sites you might notice that everything has gotten darker. A couple years ago I dyed my hair back to its original colour and chose more darker, cooler tones in my clothing. I got more and more into gothic aesthetics, quite the contrast from the colourful, bright look of this website. In this blog post I want to go more in depth into my thought process into the book and its theme. I’ve alrea ..read more

The title is a little joke about how in the UK you need a licence to do anything. I talked about copyright 4 years ago relating to YouTube guitar teachers and fair use, but this time we’re talking fan art!
There’s few things more heartbreaking than seeing your heroes act completely contrary to their image. There’s sayings like never meet your heroes or you either die a hero or you live long enough to see yourself become the villain. This second line is especially the case in classic rock. Lately I’ve seen a lot of disappointing, out of pocket, behaviour from boomer classic rockers like support ..read more

As a classic rock fan who dabbles in writing about politics from time to time, I saw this story of Mick Jagger saying that when he passes away he is considering donating the Rolling Stones catalogue to charity on social media and a friend of mine was very curious to know what I thought about it. As we all know, the news can work a bit like the game telephone where the truth gets distorted because of people misinterpreting quotes or taking things out of context, so let’s take a closer look at this story.
The Story
The news stories are focusing on a quote about his fortune from an interview he d ..read more
