Today we were doing gear testing on BC's. Testing is broken down into several areas with the digital portion done in a lab for items like lift capacity numbers, specs, suitcase travel weight, size, etc. Us test divers look at a different set of items that relate to how each of us dive. And the testers all dive differently as instructors, photogs, DM's, collectors, students, vacationers, etc. Each is looking for something different in a BC and that's what we were testing today at BG...

Happy Sunday all. I do NOT want this weekend to end! I went out yesterday with my LDS (Aquatic Ventures) for a Spiegel Grove double dip to finish up my deep speciality. We headed south to Sail Fish Scuba. When I found out it was going to be with Sail Fish, I tried looking for posts on here and I'm not sure why not much shows up about them, but, they're a small outfit but a pleasure to dive with. Should you want a smaller operation to go with, here's the details!
The Spiegel Grove was a...

Hi all,
I'm in Hudson FL until wednesday. Looking to get some dives in anywhere within an hour or 2 of Hudson. Anyone looking for a buddy this weekend? Alternatively, are there any pickup dive groups that meet at these locations? I dive regularly in SD with a meetup group but I haven't found anything similar for the Tampa area. Thanks!

Any instructors here that would be interested in doing an AOW class for my niece? We can use my boat. She has a junior open water cert. She was accepted to the marine biology program at USF for the fall and is looking to upgrade the junior rating to an adult open water by way of AOW. We're not interested in doing Spring diving. In WPB/JUP for April, the underwater grocery store is basically closed so It's maintenance month. I finished refurbishing most all my gear's annual reg/Inflator/harness/gun/looper/polespear/VHF/etc and just 2 LP108's from the tank farm left to redo. Time to dive with my other " Point & Shoot ' ...... a Canon G10, single YS-90DX, and an Akaso V50X Vid cam. We exited the WPB inlet to 2ft seas. We dove the Governor's wreck trek today-Monday and conditions were about zero current, 73 degrees...

Just curious what everyone's cold threshold is as we start getting warmer in South Florida. I ask because I got certified in November and have right at 50 dives since then and I've only used a 3mm shorty. Last weekend in Dania Beach, water temp was 74 and the coldest I've logged since November is 71. I'm almost at the point to go in board shorts and a rash guard when temp is 77 or so.
Wondering what other's feel is suit free? I know north Floridan cave folks will always be in a wet...

Has been awhile since I dove this site(maybe 9 months or so)
Viz 70 plus
water temp 75 no current
Calm seas
To start I do not see a dead reef at all.
That being said scltd, last years bleaching and hurricanes have hurt.
The above stressors appear to be similar in other parts of the Caribbean
The good news the fish population is dense
We saw multiples of turtles ,sharks, morays and dolphin pods
My 2 cents ..read more

Just received first quarter issue of Alert Diver and there was a letter to the editor about some dive operators refusing to allow divers over 70 years of age on their boat! Is this something new, anybody else heard about this kind of thing ..read more
