Should I replace my chipped roasting pan lid?

I accidentally bumped my granite roaster today. It fell and chipped the edge of the lid of the roaster. The pan itself is fine. I got from my grandma about 5 years back. It looks like this, just with a small chip in the edge of the lid where it rests against the pan. I'm wondering if it's safe to use or should I replace it. I can provide pictures if necessary ..read more

What type pan do you use the most?

What type pan do you find that you use the most? I use a dutch oven for so many things. I have one heavy 5 quart stainless one I use the most and then I have one lightweight nonstick one I use occasionally for like green beans or sometimes a quick saute and noodles dish. I used to use a deep straight sided fryer skillet for more but I have just found it's easier to stir things if you go ahead and put it in the Dutch oven and don't worry about splattering as much ..read more

Any Way To Tell If Wok's Non Stick?

Is there any way I can tell if a Wok's Non Stick or not / what material it's made out of? The Mrs was given this quite a few years ago and she thinks from memory she may have seasoned it when she 1st got it ….. unless it was the one she had before that so can't be sure. The bottom’s wearing as you can see from the pics and I don’t know if it’s something harmful coming off into our food or if it's just Carbon Steel and I can just clean and re-season it ..read more

I spent a couple of hours online looking at what was available in 11x7 casserole or baking dishes. What little there was was too heavy and too deep. So I went on eBay and bought myself a vintage Pyrex 11x7 with handles and I think I'm going to love it ..read more

So it's nothing super fancy but I picked up a enameled lodge dutch oven...no it's not the USA made enamel from them but it's still pretty nice. The finish is not where most others...(much higher cost also) but I'm not that concerned about exterior looks. Tomorrow I will use it for the first time and see what I think ..read more

Is this a steamer?

Hi, I lived out of a microwave oven all my life, now I discovered real cooking. Could anyone tell me what I have? Looks like a steamer but the bottom pan has a big hole and the lip is so shallow no food could be safely put there. Also seems to be a leaker if placed directly on a burner. How to use? Am I missing any parts? Is there a brand name for this cookware so I can read up on its use? Thanks for any help ..read more

Me Again ... Does This Look Good Enough for Season Stripping?

Silly pan looks better after washing with an SOS pad, hot water, and dish soap than after soaking in vinegar. To strip seasoning first I scrubbed thoroughly with sos pad etc, then I soaked in vinegar for 30 minutes. Picture one after scrubbing and picture 2 after soaking. The first looks more silvery. I did elbow grease a paper towel with water after the vinegar until there was no reside left on the towel not sure if that botched the job. Anybody care to weigh in? Did I do a good enough job...
