Jackson man sentenced to 30 years in prison for producing child pornography

A Jackson man will spend three decades in prison for producing child pornography. According to court documents, 43-year-old Delvan Jerrod Howard produced a video of an adult man engaging in sexually explicit conduct with a child. Howard was indicted by a federal grand jury on April 5, 2022. He pled guilty to the crime on January 11. Howard was ordered to pay $3,000 under the Amy, Vicky, and Andy Child Pornography Victim Assistance Act of 2018. Mississippi State University is preparing to introduce an electric-autonomous passenger shuttle system to campus and the community this fall. With deployment by Beep, Inc., a leading provider of autonomous and electric shared mobility solutions, the system will be the first of its kind in the Magnolia State as well as the Southeastern Conference. Body discovered in Pearl River identified as man reported missing in early April

Officials have identified the person found dead in the Pearl River on Tuesday night. According to Jackson Police Department Public Information Officer Tommie Brown, 42-year-old Jay Lee Barber was discovered in the river near South State Street and Gallatin Street. A fisherman told JPD that he noticed the body floating near the stack, which is located at the Interstate 20 and Highway 49 exit. Barber was reported missing out of Jackson on Friday, April 5. The Mississippi Supreme Court has ruled in a 7-2 vote that an advocacy group has no legal ground to sue the state over legislation that allows public funds to go to private schools. In June 2022, Parents for Public Schools, Inc.
