The Kosciusko Lady Whippets Softball team traveled to Collinsville tonight to play the Knights of West Lauderdale in game 1 of a best of 3 series in the 4A State playoffs. It was a scoreless game until the bottom of the 4th inning when the Lady Knights managed to score 1 run on 2 hits in the ballgame. The Lady Whippets had 3 hits in the game but were unable to bring a run home. Game 2 of the series is scheduled to be played in Kosciusko tomorrow night weather permitting on Peggy Ables field with the first pitch set for 7:00pm. The Kosciusko Whippets baseball team traveled all the way to Ripley to play the Tigers in the first game of the third round of the Region III-4A playoffs. In the most closely played game of the season, there was only one run scored by Kosciusko until the Tigers tied it up at one all in the bottom of the sixth. Going into extra innings, Ripley pulls it out with a walk-off run in the bottom of the eighth, final score 2-1. Choctaw, MS – On April 12 – 13, 2024, law enforcement agencies from the Choctaw Police Department, Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA), Office of Justice Services (OJS), Division of Drug Enforcement (DDE), and the Neshoba County Sheriff’s Office joined together and conducted a human trafficking operation at the Golden Moon Hotel and Casino. The main purpose of the operation was to identify and rescue victims of human trafficking to include a vice operation and interdiction stops. Man sentenced to two years in prison for assault on the Choctaw Indian Reservation

Jackson, Miss. – A Jones County man was sentenced to 24 months in federal prison for assault with intent to commit a kidnapping on the Choctaw Indian Reservation. According to court documents, Tyreese Khalia Kejuan Smith, 23, assaulted an adult tribal female in the Bogue Homa Community of the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians. Smith was indicted by a federal grand jury in September 2023 and pled guilty to the assault on January 30, 2024. U.S. Attorney Todd W.
