The 2022 World Air Hockey Championships took place Aug. 12-14 at the University of Houston Hilton in Texas. More than 90 competitors from around the country took part in the event, which crowned a champion and determined new U.S. Air Hockey Assn. rankings. Colin Cummings of San Antonio was once again the winner, claiming his incredible seventh USAA world title for the fifth year in a row. A 30-minute championship air hockey production will be on ESPN2 this week as part of its Ocho Day, which celebrates “seldom seen sports.” Air times (all Eastern time zone) will be on Aug. 7 at 11 a.m. and Aug. 8 at 8:30 p.m. The show was filmed at the USAA World Air Hockey Championships in December 2021 at the University of Houston. ESPN’s annual “The Ocho” programming will feature an air hockey tournament this Friday, Aug. 6. Gold Standard Games sponsored the ESPN Invitational event, which took place July 24-25 in Houston. Held April 12-14 in Milwaukee, the Midwest Gaming Classic attracted thousands of gamers and families with a mix of video games, pinball machines and other coin-op entertainment, including a “challenge the pro” event hosted by Gold Standard Games.
