The further apical the root abrasion, the more difficult the mechanical access in my hands.
A single shade of A3 G-aenial A’Chord was used and you can see that the root abrasion abutting the old PFM crown on the second bicuspid will not be matched without a “hyperopaque” composite.

Recurrent caries in two locations under this seamingly “conservative” amalgam. The trouble is, with undercuts, the actual size of these preps belie their surface appearance.
Substrate Optimization steps:
// Beveling: the closer to a cusp, the more aggressively you need to bevel
// Micro particle abrasion: 29 micron AlOx (Aquacare) at 30-40psi/2-3bar
// Selective Etch: allows for 10-MDP in a later step to work on unetched dentin to form SuperDentin (300-500nm layer)
// 2% CHX (aq): knocks out MMPs and acts as a rewetting agent
// Bond (10-MDP-containing ideal as above)
// Air thin
// Cure

Often a single shade of dentin composite can be used to match Zr in implant screw access channels. Utilizing the APC technique, the Astratech screw was torqued to prescribed value before covering said screw with PTFE. Micro particle abrasion was utilized (Aquacare AlOx, 29 micron) prior to surface treatment using a MDP primer. The restorative material used was O3 by Voco Amaris and fissure tints using Final Touch Brown.
