Advanced vs. Amateur – Division Declarations

All throwers will have until April 5th to declare as Advanced or Amateur via their App profiles. Once Season 2 begins on April 6th, NO DIVISION CHANGES CAN BE MADE. The designation must be made before the season starts, NOT before the first game that you play of the season! Division Changes With 2024 bringing the new divisions and ruleset, we wanted to give all throwers the opportunity to test out which division would work best for them. Pro League status is awarded to the top 128 throwers (by Season Rating) on the Advanced leaderboard each season. To earn a bid to the World Axe Throwing Championship (WATC), throwers must achieve Pro League status twice in the same competition year. Leagues earning Pro status do not need to be consecutive to earn a bid. For more information on qualifying for WATC, see our Qualifying page below. Bids will be released starting on December 11. For each discipline, the top verified scores will earn a bid to WATC VII. The World Axe Throwing Professional League (WATL Pro League) is a qualifying system that helps to recognize the top competitors in the sport of axe throwing for standard hatchet competition. At the end of each league season, the top 24 Pros (by leaderboard position) will be awarded a bid to the 2023 WATC.
