Over the last few years, adventure elopements have become more popular and more accepted. But what’s the hype all about? What could possibly be so amazing about ditching a big wedding and celebrating more intimately out in nature? You might be under the impression that eloping is unexciting and anticlimactic compared to a large wedding. But elopements are actually the opposite! Many couples have decided to turn their elopement into an experience rather than just a ceremony – and that’s what makes it so exciting. I always encourage my wedding couples to make their day unique and do something th ..read more

If you’re a 2023 bride, one of the first things you’ll do after getting engaged and picking a wedding date is choose your color palette. I recommend this be one of the first things you do in your planning process because it determines so many other things – bridesmaid dresses, the groom’s tie, florals, decor, etc. One of my favorite things that I’ve been seeing for 2023 weddings is the color and unique touches that couples have been adding to their day. I’ve seen everything from pizza party receptions in a roller rink, to a desert disco dance party under the stars, to roasting marshmallows by ..read more

The Difference Between an Elopement and a Bridal Session
Emily Dawn Photo Blog

Earlier, I published a blog talking about the difference between my elopement and wedding packages! You can read that here. Now I’m going to explain the difference between a bridal session and my elopement package. The biggest difference is than an elopement means it’s your wedding day. A bridal session could either be done a few weeks before your wedding, on your honeymoon, or even on an anniversary. A bridal session is not on the wedding day and the purpose of the shoot is not “getting married” like the purpose of an elopement is. The purpose of a bridal session is usually to get more photos ..read more

What is the difference between my elopement and wedding packages? You can find my base prices here, and after you inquire with me here, I’ll send you my Pricing Guide which goes more in depth on everything that I offer. But maybe you’re not sure if the vision you have for your day will fall under elopement pricing or wedding pricing – so let’s break down the differences! My base elopement package starts with less hours and has a guest count maximum. My base wedding package starts with more hours and doesn’t have a guest limit. You can add hours on to any package, but I’ve structured my bases t ..read more

I’ve been a photographer for 10 years and have lived in St. George for over 2 years now. If you’re not familiar with Utah, St. George is only 20 minutes from the Arizona border. I’m about 1 hour from Zion National Park where the majority of my sessions and weddings take place. It’s right in the middle of the desert with cacti, palm trees, and gorgeous mountains of red and white rocks. When I moved to St. George for the warm weather and breathtaking scenery and hikes, I figured I would photograph only a few tourist couples. But oh I under estimated that big time. 90% of the couples that I photo ..read more

What IS a Bridal Session?
Emily Dawn Photo Blog
by emilydawnphoto

Every time I book a wedding, I always ask if the bride wants a separate bridal session prior to the wedding. Some people already know what this entails, but I have a lot of clients who respond asking, “What are bridals?” Bridals are almost as important as your wedding day coverage! So… WHAT are they exactly? A bridal shoot is separate from your wedding. It is also a separate price, but it is so worth it. Doing a bridal session prior to your wedding means that you get more bridal coverage than you would if you just had the bridals from your wedding day itself. It’s a shoot where the ..read more
