The relationship between Scots and America began as far back as the early 1600s when prisoners, indentured servants, and free Scots traveled to the New World. Free Scots, or Scots who had traveled to America on their own accord, initially settled on the east coast. Earlier this year, we had the pleasure of collaborating with Glasgow Caledonian University on one of their industry live projects. We worked with Second Year Fashion Design with Business students as they were set the task of creating a range of streetwear incorporating elements of our Mist tartans.
The project all started with a visit to our flagship Bath Street store. The team showed the students around to share with them what MacGregor and MacDuff is all about. The Fèis Ìle Festival is an annual event celebrating the beautiful Isle of Islay. Spanning across 10 days, the event is a gathering of whisky and Islay lovers alike. The festival showcases the culture and spirit of the island and supports local charities, organisations and artists. We were delighted to be approached by the Fèis Ìle Committee this year as they launched a competition to design a tartan for the festival.
