The Ottawa Redblacks have struggled mightily during the last three seasons, posting a combined record of 10-40. The Redblacks finished 0-9 at home this season and have won only one of their last 25 home games. There have been many reasons for the Redblacks’ recent struggles, including multiple injuries to key players, lackluster coaching and playcalling, an inability to make in-game adjustments, poor execution by several players in multiple positions in big moments, and consistent struggles combined with a lack of depth at key positions. The Redblacks coaching staff will look a lot different t ..read more

Interim head coach Bob Dyce got his first win in charge of the Ottawa Redblacks, defeating the Montreal Alouettes 24-18 to keep the Redblacks’ slim playoff hopes alive while simultaneously preventing the Alouettes from clinching a playoff spot of their own. Redblacks’ quarterback Nick Arbuckle was extremely efficient in the win, completing 28/32 of his passes for 229 yards, no touchdowns, and no interceptions. He moved the ball downfield efficiently, made smart decisions throwing the football, did not rush his reads, and was patient in the pocket. He climbed up the pocket or rolled out to avoi ..read more

The Ottawa Redblacks, fresh off back-to-back wins against the Edmonton Elks and Montreal Alouettes on the road, came into today’s game against their provincial rivals with a 3-8 record, 1.5 games back of the 5-7 Alouettes for second place in the East Division, looking for a third straight win for the first time since 2018 with their playoff chances still very much alive.  Despite a strong second half from the Redblacks on both sides of the ball, they struggled to generate anything on offense in the first half. The Toronto Argonauts’ lead was too big to overcome and while the Redblacks’ pl ..read more

The Ottawa Redblacks get their first win in Toronto since July 13, 2016, after defeating a very talented Toronto Argonauts’ squad by a score of 23-13 to improve to 1-6 on the season. All of a sudden, they’re right back in the playoff race.   The win comes on the shoulders of the Redblacks’ defense which shut down Andrew Harris – one of the CFL’s leading rushers, who eclipsed 10,000 career rush yards last week – and forced four sacks and multiple turnovers, wide receiver Jaelon Acklin, who became the CFL’s leading receiver in 2022 with 687 yards after recording seven catches for 144 y ..read more

A must-win game for two talented East Division teams who have yet to taste victory this season was exciting from start to finish and delivered multiple explosive plays, several lead changes, a handful of turnovers, a game-winning drive, and even came down to a last-second field goal.  Unfortunately, a 54-yard game-winning field goal from Lewis Ward fell less than one yard short and the Tiger-Cats got their first win after a near-flawless game-winning drive to come back from a five-point deficit with just over one minute remaining.  The Redblacks fall to 0-5 despite a solid performanc ..read more

A crucial stop on defense late in the game for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers led to the game-winning drive where Zach Collaros connected with wide receiver Dalton Schoen for a 27-yard touchdown to complete the sweep of the Redblacks and improve to 2-0 on the season.  The Redblacks, meanwhile, fall to 0-2 on the season after two competitive games against back-to-back defending Grey Cup champions and the best team in the CFL, both of which resulted in close losses by a combined total of only nine points. The Ottawa Redblacks lost a thrilling, defensive battle against the two-time defending Grey Cup champion Winnipeg Blue Bombers by a score of 19-17 after Bombers’ kicker Marc Liegghio’s game-winning field goal with six seconds left in the game.  One thing is for certain. In a thrilling, defensive battle to close out the CFL preseason, the Montreal Alouettes scored the game-winning TD with less than a minute to go to win 27-26 and complete the comeback over the visiting Ottawa Redblacks.  The Redblacks started out the game playing extremely well on defense. Their young, aggressive and talented secondary forced four interceptions, three of them came off the arm of Alouettes’ starting QB Vernon Adams, including two from young cornerback Hakeem Bailey.  The Alouettes rolled out the majority of their starters, especially on offense but the Redblacks gave ..read more

After a disappointing season in 2021, finishing with a record of 3-11, the Ottawa Redblacks showed glimpses of how good they can be in 2022 with a thrilling 23-17 comeback win over the Toronto Argonauts in their preseason opener. The first half was a low-scoring, back and forth, grueling defensive battle as both offenses were trying to figure out their opponents’ defensive schemes while trying to work out the kinks in their own playbook after a shortened training camp as a result of ongoing CBA negotiations.  The only point in the first quarter came from a punt by Redblacks’ punter Jose M ..read more

The Redblacks made many improvements in free agency this season, especially at quarterback offensive line, and wide receiver their three biggest needs.  Most notably, they signed former Hamilton Tiger Cats’ quarterback Jeremiah Masoli, who won the CFL East Division Most Outstanding Player in 2018 and is the type of player who has a ton of upside, potential and both his teammates and coaches love his hard work, passion, and dedication to the game. In addition, they’ve bolstered their wide receiving core by bringing back R.J Harris and adding a trio of talented receivers each with different ..read more
