In Peru, more than half a million children under the age of 5 are malnourished. 25% of the population live in poverty, and yet, the thing they want most is to have a Bible of their own.
That’s why the Peruvian Bible Society began the “Pan de Vida” project, or as we might know it, the “Bread of Life” project. This project has been running for over 20 years and has already helped thousands of children across Peru.
Bible Society NI have supported this vital project for many years because of the support we receive from people like you. However, there is still a great need for this project. Will yo ..read more

Catherine, our outgoing General Secretary, shares her reflections on the last 8 years.
Bible Society NI’s staff team in 2016 – Campbell, Catherine, Julie, and Leah.
When I started as General Secretary in April 2016, I had a lot to learn!
Those first months involved learning about our team, our Board, and our work. It involved a World Assembly of United Bible Societies in Philadelphia and a lot of explaining that John Doherty had retired.
As I write I’m preparing to pass the baton on to someone new. I have accepted a job with United Bible Societies as Head of Mobilisation – a relatively new ..read more

A project update from 2014
In our Autumn 2014 magazine, almost 10 years ago, we introduced a translation project run by the Bible Society of Botswana in partnership with the Lutheran Bible Translators. The Bible has never been available in Shekgalagari, the language of the Bakgalagari people who mainly live in the Kgalagari desert. Now, 14 years after work began, the New Testament is finally 100% complete and is fully available in Shekgalagari, all thanks to the support of people like you who gave to this vital work.

Each year, our United Bible Societies Global Fellowship partners with local Bible Societies to continue to work on this goal of translating the Bible into every language. We now have the 2023 Bible Translation statistics to share with you
Amazingly, 7.23 billion people have access to some Scripture in the ..read more

Albania has been described as one of the least religious countries in the world – some might see that as a challenge, but the Bible Society in Albania see this as an opportunity. Since the beginnings of the work of the Bible Society in Albania in 1996 they have used sports to reach out to children and young people with Bible Stories.
I’m excited to tell you about a young man called Emiljo. Emiljo is from Albania – he lives in Tirana and studies Sport Science at University. Emiljo volunteers with the Bible Society of Albania and has been a follower of Christ for several years.
