If you found yourself on campus the week leading up to classes, you probably heard the oh-so familiar sound of a metronome ticking on Lafollette Field, or maybe even the sound of piccolos on the Quad. It’s a great day to be a Cardinal! The Pride of Mid-America is so excited to share LaFollette Field with our incoming freshmen and can’t wait to show them the ropes. Once again, it is that time of year where the Pride of Mid-America must return their uniforms, package their drums, and hand in their poms. Although these activities may be somber, the memories from this season are not. After a peculiar season in 2020, we have been fortunate and overjoyed with the number of activities and opportunities that we have had in our 2021 season. As another month comes to a close, we are so excited to reflect on all our activities from November! From supporting the Muncie community to cheering on the Ball State football team to premiering a new halftime show, we have had an enjoyably active month. We started off the month by collaborating with the Muncie Animal Rescue Fund (ARF) for our third halftime show of the season, “Who Let the Dogs Out?” During this collaboration, on November 6th, the Pride of Mid-America volunteered at Muncie ARF’s shelters by raking leaves, walking dogs, and giving many cuddles to the animals. As the Pride of Mid-America wraps up another month, we are so excited to continue to practice and perform for our supporters and fans! This past month was full of exciting events and games for POMA. The month started strong as the Pride of Mid-America performed their “Americana” show at the Ball State vs. The Army football game on October 2nd. The Pride of Mid-America Marching Band has been back in full swing for the month of September! Between two football games and preparation for the October 24th Showcase, POMA has been busy rehearsing and bringing the hype to our football team and fans throughout September! The Pride of Mid-America (POMA) Marching Band is thrilled to return for their 2021 season! After returning to a typical Early Week schedule in August, we are excited to support the Ball State Football Team and continue to perform at games this season! It is once again that time in the season where the Pride of Mid-America ensemble members must return their instruments and flags while reminiscing about the memories that they created in this very peculiar season. At the end of the season, the Pride of Mid-America was able to play at two games in November! The first game that the band got to support the Ball State football team at was on November 11th and was against Eastern Michigan. The Pride of Mid-America would like to thank all our supporters who were able to make it to our showcase concert on Oct. 17! Although this season has been very different compared to previous seasons, we are still thankful for all the support we receive from our wonderful fans. With the uncertainty of the season, POMA members continued to rehearse in preparation for potential football games after the showcase concert. This past Saturday was a socially safe, fun-filled day for the Pride of Mid-America Marching Band and Ball State’s Spirit Squad, Code Red! Because of the postponed football games, a showcase event was held on Oct. 17 to show the Muncie community all that the Ball State marching band has been working on. The event was open to the community, with all attendees required to wear masks and remain socially distanced.
