Of course your risk tolerance is up to you, but if you consider the differences between an internal combustion engine (explosions, recirculating lubrication, separate up and down motions to round and round) to and an electric motor (magnets and a spinning shaft), there is so much less that can go wrong with an EV. The quoted prices seems excessive. Statistics: Posted by Jeff4 — Mon Dec 18, 2023 5:44 pm ..read more

Can someone confirm that I don't need to code the new battery for e-golf? I replaced my battery with a VW (Varta) AGM from the dealership and it did not require coding. Here is a useful thread: viewtopic.php?t=2662&start=20 Statistics: Posted by NurStrom — Mon Dec 18, 2023 5:09 pm ..read more

-Supposedly everything but the main battery... I don't think it covers the charging plug in interface. In other words, the mouse trap behind the fuel door probably is not included. Statistics: Posted by NurStrom — Mon Dec 18, 2023 5:01 pm ..read more

Unfortunately, the eGolf's utilize the latest anti-theft protocol which only authorized personnel (i.e. dealership) can access. You'll need to get it paired at the dealer. The VCDS will not help you. Statistics: Posted by NurStrom — Mon Dec 18, 2023 4:45 pm ..read more

One of the key fobs for my 2016 SEL stopped working. (Even with a new battery, after cleaning the contacts.) So I ordered a new fob online from a VW dealer that offered a discount. I assumed that I could synch it myself following the instructions in the Owner's Manual (page 47) entitled `Synchronizing the remote control vehicle key' which are essentially the same as this YouTube video. But when the key arrived I was unable to synch it. So I called the dealer that supplied the fob and was informed that this can only be done by a dealer because they need to activate the car's system to accept th ..read more

An update: Tesla pushed new firmware, 23.24.4-11ab530, to my Tesla Universal Wall Connector (TUWC). With it I needed to re-commission the unit, go to the Access Controls page and select a new option "Compatibility Mode" (before, the only non-Tesla option was "All Vehicles," which remains an option on the new page). Upon selecting the "Compatibility Mode," there is a warning that not all functions may be available under this option, though there is no explanation of what these may be. Once set up this way, it appears now that everything is working for my VW e-Golf. I noticed a change immediate ..read more

Sounds correct. Pressing immediate charge button works to start charging immediately even if you have schedules programmed. And pressing the immediate charge button always charges to 100%, with or without any programmed schedules, correct? Statistics: Posted by Jeff4 — Fri Dec 01, 2023 4:26 pm ..read more

I just wanted to check my understanding is correct (while dealing with Tesla and their wall connector’s inability to charge my e-Golf; see other post). My understanding is that the only way to set up the e-Golf to charge to no more than 80% immediately upon plug in is via the following procedure. `I set the minimum charge level on the e-Golf to be 80% (firs page of e-manager) along with a scheduled departure of 80% or less for some future time (I use 5:30am in the morning). When I plug in at home in the evening, these settings produce an immediate request to charge to 80%, with the subsequent ..read more
