Microsoft unveiled plans to introduce a new Copilot key to the standard Windows keyboard – a significant change to the layout since the addition of dedicated Windows keys in 1994. The key, equipped with AI functionality, is aimed at enhancing accessibility for Windows 11 users. Revamping PC Keyboards The introduction of a Copilot key materialized through an informative blog post and accompanying video released by Microsoft. If you’ve been around mechanical keyboards, you’re undoubtedly familiar with CHERRY. Their mechanical switches are found in quite a number of different keyboards out there, offering different sound levels, engagement point, and so on. What better way to showcase a brand new switch type (in this case, the Cherry M2A) than in their own keyboard? That’s what’s going on with the CHERRY KC 200 MX Keyboard. What are the M2A switches? Well, they’re an evolution of the original M2 switches; here’s how Cherry describes the changes: Our new CHERRY MX2A mechanical switch that replaces the current MX f ..read more

As we’ve said before, when you’re looking for a keyboard for your gaming rig or even just your WFH setup, there are no end of choices out there. For myself, I’ve tended more towards mechanical keyboards, due to the extremely satisfying tactile feel that they provide. But again, choices abound here. Switches, backlighting schemes, even the overall look and sizing of the board. If you’re a child of the 80s, then the MIKIT T80 in Hazel Chocolate is definitely going to feel very nostalgic. What is it? The MIKIT T80 is a 80% keyboard (so no number pad, taking up less space on your desk). Here, in ..read more

Just the other month (seen here), we told you about a new series of keyboards that ZAGG was releasing, meant to go with your full-size devices (read: computers and laptops) as well as your more mobile devices. Over the past few weeks, I’ve been using the ZAGG Pro Keyboard 15 as my daily driver, and we’re ready to share some thoughts with you. Why a wireless keyboard? That’s a good question to ask, and one you need to settle for yourself if you’re considering something like the ZAGG Pro Keyboard 15. If you’re constantly moving stuff around on your desk or workspace in order to have room to typ ..read more

How to use a Windows keyboard with a Mac
Knapsack » Keyboards

You can use a Windows keyboard with a Mac. The main difference is that the Windows keyboard has a Control (Ctrl), Windows, Alt, and AltGr key, while the standard Apple keyboard has Control (Ctrl), Option, and Command keys. The Windows key on a Windows keyboard corresponds to the Command key on a Mac, and the Alt key corresponds to the Option key. The Default View If you wish to remap the keys to match the layout of a Mac keyboard, you can follow these steps: Open System Preferences from the Apple menu at the top-left of the screen. Click on “Keyboard”. Click on the “Modifier Keys…” button at ..read more

Mac users don’t get much love when it comes to keyboards. You can have any keyboard you want but every time you plug in a new one you have to swap keys and make sure your splat and option keys are mapped correctly. It’s not a huge deal but no self-respecting Mac lover wants a Windows key on their keyboard. That’s why the MacTigr from Das Keyboard is such a breath of fresh air. Marketed as the “reference keyboard” for Mac users, this 105-key beast features a full metal body, great switches, and even a numpad. Let’s dig in a bit. Wait a minute – didn’t we just review a SteelSeries Apex 9 keyboard? You’re right, we did (you can see that here). That was the ten-keyless (or TKL) version. Now, we first told you about the SteelSeries Apex 9 Mini here, which came out the same time as the TKL version was released. In many ways, these keyboards are the same – it’s just the Mini is a good bit smaller. From the photo right above, you can see how much more compact the keyboard is. You l ..read more

Recently Released: IOGEAR Mechlite Nano Mechanical Keyboard

One of the things I learned about myself when the whole world shut down is that, yes, I can and do appreciate a well-built keyboard. I thought I understood what I liked, but getting into the world of mechanical keyboards was an eye-opener. I’m not building my own keyboard, but that sense that, yes, I AM doing something here is just satisfying. One of the latest to catch our eye is the IOGEAR Mechlite Nano Mechanical Keyboard. When considering keyboards, you do need to consider how large of a board you need. Unless you’re an accountant (or in Excel all day), a full-size keyboard with the numkey ..read more
