Tide (Together in Dementia Everyday) has the mission to “connect, enable and mobilise carers and former carers of people with dementia to use their experience to influence change.” Carer members of the organisation have access to free online events, information and advice, including the Carer Development Programme. The projects, launched on 8th November at the offices of Universal Music UK,  are linked to recommendations of last year’s Power of Music report which among its recommendations called for investment in music programmes for the health and wellbeing of people living with dementia. Power of Music Fund gives grassroots dementia choirs and music groups the opportunity to apply for small grants to cover basic costs, like room hire, travel and refreshments. Conducted by the Longitude Prize on Dementia, which is funded by Alzheimer’s Society and Innovate UK, and delivered by Challenge Works, the poll set out to understand the appetite amongst primary care doctors for the use of technology in helping people and families affected by dementia. It highlights the importance of identifying risk factors and putting in place proactive risk reduction measures to delay the onset of dementia.
