New cases and case updates Remember Summer 2023 – hot and dry, cold, and wet, and then hot and dry again. With students away, the university was unimaginably quiet – apart from grass cutting, tree felling and dog walkers… But in the Clinic legal work continued. Legal problems follow the law’s timetable which is dictated by the urgency of the matter and deadlines imposed by the courts and legal process in general. Our cases do not conveniently settle or conclude at the end of the academ ..read more

I realised I wasn’t that interested in practising law in the courtroom, but rather critiquing law. This is what led me to academia. Could you tell us about your studies since graduating with your undergraduate degree from Kent? I completed my Master’s at Kent too, in Medical Law and Ethics with Human Rights Law. Before starting, I realised my main legal interests lie broadly within medical and family law after studying them both at undergraduate level. The units offered on the Kent LLM – and the fact I was able to have a ‘major’ and ‘minor’ element to the degree – were both massive selling poi ..read more

We caught up with Academic and Sports Scholar, Kaaya Kavuma, on his graduation day where 16 members of his family flew in from across the world to celebrate with him. What attracted you to studying at Kent? The areas of beautiful scenery, big fields and open air made the choice a little easier for me, it was a city that I knew I would enjoy living in for the next three years of my life. I was also drawn by the vast international community that Kent offers. I have always enjoyed learning about new cultures and meeting people from countries around the world. Knowing I could be in a university wh ..read more
