Hi there. I'm Andrew. I'm a perfectly imperfect human and The Ravenous Flexitarian. My journey to flexitarianism has been a long and turbulent one. I've attempted vegetarianism, and veganism and now finally feel most at home living a flexitarian lifestyle. This blog is about finding the balance between plant-based and traditional eating. I hope that those who want to incorporate..

A lovely lady on a Facebook group that I’m part of asked if anyone had a recipe to replicate the Yumi’s Cauliflower and Potato Bites found in Australian supermarkets. Although I hadn’t eaten or made these before, I jumped at the opportunity to test my recipe making skills. I went and bought a pack, tried them, and set about making a version that this group member would be able to create at home.
Her main motivation for wanting to make these cauliflower and potato bites herself at home was to save on single use plastic. What a great reason to cook at home! I hope that I’ve gone one better and g ..read more

I know it’s been a while since I’ve shared recipes. The main reason for that is that I’ve been working on a new venture!
Pawtle is an indoor privacy curtain that creates privacy for you and a pet door for them. It’s a simple product that I came up with when I moved into a share house with my cats. Winter and Summer HATE closed doors and were starting to destroy the carpets if they ever came up against one. Pawtle helps to solve that problem.
It’s super simple to install and uses adhesive magnets that attach to the door and door frame. The curtain hangs on the magnets and when the door is pull ..read more

A few years ago Sunfed brought a great mock chicken product to the shores of Australia. It cooks up nicely and can be used in a variety of different dishes. I’ve also been known to just eat it straight from the frypan. They’ve now released something new to further bolster our plant based meat options: Sunfed Beef.

Sunfed’s “Bull Free” Beef is available in major supermarkets which makes it very accessible and convenient to us Aussies. I bought mine at Coles in Prahran. You can find it in the chilled plant based meat section of the store.
I’ve used Sunfed Beef twice now and ..read more

It’s no secret, I love burgers! And really, who doesn’t? Gone are the days where vegans were stuck with vegetable patties or bean based patties. We can now enjoy a multitude of different options. I took the opportunity to do this vegan burger comparison. Plantein, Moving Mountains and V2 Foods have been pitted against each other in this vegan burger review.
Disclaimer: Plantein sent me the patties for free. So whilst this post hasn’t been paid for, I thought I should let you know that it’s been partially sponsored. It hasn’t affected my judgement and I promise to give you my honest thoughts ab ..read more

Ever since Herb and Sons released a vegetarian “Chicken” Kiev product, vegans have been wishing that a vegan version was available. Plantein, who use the same manufacturers as the Herb and Sons products, have filled that gap in the market with this Plant-Based Garlic Kiev product. I hope my Plantein Kiev Review helps you decide whether to give this product a shot, or not.
Plantein Plant-Based Garlic Kievs
Before I decided to do a Plantein Kiev review, I had to test the product out properly. So this was my 3rd dish using the product. And whilst I didn’t really have Chicken Kievs before I went v ..read more

I’m quickly becoming addicted to Fable’s Plant Based Braised Beef due to it’s versatility and great flavour. This is my second Fable recipe and it’s one I’ll be making again and again. These Chunky ‘Beef’ Nachos are so good with the Fable mock meat and will satisfy any carnivore’s taste buds.
I thought I’d make a couple more dishes with this product before doing my full Fable review. What better way to test it out than with a family favourite recipe. Last week I made Steak and Pea Pies, so make sure you check that Fable recipe out too.

One of the things I definitely miss ..read more

If you’ve been on social media at all in the last while then you would have heard of Deliciou. I think they are probably most famous for their Bacon Seasoning, which scored them a sweet cash investment on Shark Tank in 2017. But the main product that I’ve been interested in trying is the Deliciou Plant Based Chicken. It so happens that Deliciou reached out to me recently and asked if I’d like to try it. So of course I said “hell yes”.
I want to be completely up front with you. Whilst I haven’t been paid for this review, I did get the product for free. But something else you should know is that ..read more

7-Eleven recently launched a new range of plant based vegan products including a pie, sausage roll and two different sandwiches. This week I review the vegan pie and vegan sausage roll, or as 7-Eleven call them, the No Meat Pie and the No Sausage Roll.
More pictures to come
I was in such a rush to film my first ever video review (see below) that I didn’t take many photos of the new vegan pie and vegan sausage roll from 7-Eleven. Or maybe I just needed an excuse to go back this weekend and buy more! I’ll upload more images to this post as soon as I have them.
You can see from the picture I di ..read more
