Looking for a possible upgrade for daughter's D5600

Well, the Pup's birthday is coming around again and I was talking with her about what she wants. I had talked with her about upgrading her D5600, a while back, but she wasn't really interested then. She is more receptive to that now. She doesn't really want to get into mirrorless, and I'm not sure she'd be happy with the full frame DSLRs because she likes the different preset exposure modes. That pretty much leaves the D7200 and D7500. I'm a little reluctant to downgrade the sensor specs to... Read more ..read more

Fx camera on Dx mode to shoot wild life?

Hello everyone, Does it make sense to switch to Dx mode while on a Fx camera to shoot wild life? For instance, if on a D810, you can get higher fps (7) (using other power sources, which I assume is the vertical grip battery), much higher buffer than D7200 or D7500, ~21Mpx image resolution. For the prices that the D7500 is going for used, is it better to just spend a little bit more, if that (used prices of course), and get a D810 and shoot on Dx mode for better perfomance? Nikon exposure setting issue

Hello everyone, I own a D700 and I've been having some issues with the exposure settings on my camera. My camera is changing the shutter speed automatically and I don't know why. For instance, when shutting on manual mode I have lock a good/right exposure at 1/1000, f/3.5, ISO200, and after I click and take the photo it will automatically bump of the shutter speed to say 1/4000 for the second shot, 1/2000 for the third, then 1/500 for the fifth, without changing the f or ISO, when I really... Nikon WMU File size change?

How do I download full resolution images from my Nikon Camera to my smartphone using the Nikon WMU app? Nikon WMU claims they transfer "optimal resolution" for smartphones "optimized for display" and a VGA sized at 640x480. With my Sony alpha camera I can download from full 6000x4000 JPEG and then crop beautifully. I downloaded "optimal" resolution but these files are small and unusable for cropping in my opinion. I know social media file sizes don't need to be large. Issue is, I went... Read more ..read more

Input on all in one zoom for DX5600

I'm thinking about getting the Pup an upgrade for her D5600 normal zoom. Looks like everything is older designs. She really likes her 5600 and doesn't really want an upgraded camera body right now. I've gotten her DX upgrades in lenses till now, but for a normal/all in one, a DX is really the only way to go for a DX camera. I can get a brand new 18-200 F3.5-5.6 VRII lens for $650. New 18-140 F3.5-5.6 VR for $500 Refurbed 18-140 F3.5-5.6 VR for $200 I'm open to the 18-300, but feel that... Read more ..read more

New Camera Dilemma

Hi, New to this forum, but I really wanted peoples advise on what to do. After 10 years I am finally in the market to buy a new camera and upgrade from my D90. I think given my budget it looks like it the D7500 is the natural choice and I believe will work happily with the DX lenses I own. But I see the D7500 is already over 2 years old. I know I will see a big improvement going from a D90 to a D7500 but should I be waiting around to see if there is a D7500 successor around the corner... Read more ..read more

Let's try to spend my tax refund.

Normally I tend to make major camera gear purchases this time of year after filing my taxes and setting a budget based on the refund. This year, I don't have specific anything in mind. I did buy some used lenses during 2021 and a replacement infrared converted D600. I am feeling like I have my gear needs mostly covered right now. Not to say I don't have a few ideas, but mostly they seem impractical. In order of potential costs: I kind of want 1 or 2 better options for camera bags. What I... Read more ..read more

yeah i know , i know very well the biggest question possible asked all the time LOL my brain has come to a grinding halt over it. i had initially got my choice down to 2. reason for the upgrade isn't because i think the camera will take better shots, its more i think i'm ready and need a few bits the D5300 doesn't have. What i would like :- Ability to switch modes without having to mooch through menu after menu to get at it - guessing a user setting. Weather proofing big one in my book... Read more ..read more
