If you're looking into new cameras look into the RF Mount. The EF Mount is quickly being discontinued and further DSLR development has ended. The 5D Mark IV is compatible with the LP-E6NH battery. My copy came with the newer LP-E6NH battery instead of the LP-E6N battery. The camera also came with the LC-E6 charger you don't specify which one comes with it. The EF 24-105mm F/4L IS II USM lens is commonly bundled with Canon's EF Mount Full Frame cameras. I've never seen the EF 24-70mm F/2.8L USM lens bundled with any of Canon's EF Mount Full cameras ..read more

How much is your budget. Canon's entry level cameras come with some variant of the EF-S 18-55mm lens. If going with one of those variants stick to the versions with the STM AF motor. Older version lack IS (Image Stabilization) and use very old and slow AF motors. Those models use an AF motor called Micro Motor which was first released in 1993. This AF motor was retired by Canon in 2012 and replaced by the STM AF motor. I've listed a few lens choices below and a lens compatibility chart. Also the EF 75-300mm F/4-5.6 III lens lineup are all poor optically and use very old slow AF ..read more

I am suffering from a lack of information on some products related to the 5D mk IV: Canon site says it comes with either the LCE6E or the LCE6 battery charger. How do I tell which or specify which I want when purchasing? I would prefer the E6E that has a cord. The new higher capacity battery LPE6NH is not mentioned anywhere in the manual. I would assume it is compatible, but assumptions have a habit of turning out to be wrong. Can the NH be used with the 5D mk IV? I can find absolutely no information whatsoever about the close focus extenders EF 12 II and EF 25 II. How much extra magnification ..read more

Hi and welcome to the forum: Your T3 can take lenses with an EF or EF-S prefix.  It will NOT work with EF-M, RF and RF-S lenses. For a more standard lens, I would strongly recommend the EF-S 18-135 IS USM.  This unit is not expensive, but is a great optic and has image stabilization.  The wide focal range will make a perfect walk-around unit. If you eventually decide to improve your images at the long end, I would suggest losing the 75-300 (which are arguably Canon's worst optic) and get the EF 70-300, or for wildlife the Sigma 150-600 Contemporary lens. I just checked and don't ..read more

EOS Rebel T3 Lens compatibility

Hi everyone,  I have a EOS Rebel T3 camera, and when I bought it several years ago at a garage sale, all it had is a Canon Zoom Lens EF 75-300mm lens. I am looking at getting more of a "standard lens" for just taking regular photos. The issue I am having is knowing how to tell what lenses would be compatible with my particular camera. Hopefully without having to buy some kind of mounting adapter.  ..read more

It would seem to me that Canon, as well as their customers, would be well served by more clearly stating this in their user manuals and Quick Start Guides. They do state the recommended types and capacities of cards that can be used. But they should also emphatically add that using any memory card requiring an adapter IS NOT RECOMMENDED AND MAY CAUSE UNDESIRABLE, ERRATIC AND UNPREDICTABLE BEHAVIOR! in big red letters with an exclamation point! Of course this still relies on the customer bothering to even read the literature that comes packaged with the camera ..read more

You may also find that certain lenses provide more sharpness in the center of the image, but go a bit softer toward the outer edges. It may help to more closely group your subjects together in the center of your frame and give them a bit more "breathing room" around the top, bottom and sides. With this large of a group I'd try having about half of them sitting or crouching down in front with the rest crouching or standing behind. And also remember the suggestions already offered before mine ..read more

I suggest that you completely reset the camera back to its factory defaults.  I believe subject tracking is the factory default behavior for the AF system.  There are numerous tutorials on YouTube on the topic of the advanced subject tracking features in R Series bodies.   ..read more

Canon R6 Subject Detection missing?

I currently own a Canon EOS R6 and I'm having a hard time finding understanding what settings or shooting modes are required for AF Eye Tracking to actually work. I recently rented another R6 (fairly certain it was NOT a Mark II) and noticed that when I select AF Face Tracking, the viewfinder began to show white boxes around different faces prior to engaging AF. I've since tried replicating the settings on my own R6, but no matter what I do I can't seem to get it to show those similar boxes prior to engaging the AF.   I had previously setup a few Back Button Focus options but have since r ..read more

I would have to agree with my colleague @Tronhard. Your settings aren't correct. Why did you choose those settings. F/22 will add a lot of diffraction and make the picture less sharp. Also the high ISO of ISO 25,600 will add a lot of noise to the picture. For the above picture I would've used 1/320th sec F/5.6 ISO 100. Or I could've used 1/200th sec F/8 ISO 100. Now @Tronhard's settings aren't wrong. There are different combinations of settings that will get you a correctly exposed picture. If you're are shooting in M (Manual Mode) switch to a different mode. Such as P (Pro ..read more
