As batteries age they store less. So Im wondering how to measure how many % power my ageing LP-E19 is capable of storing.
If its fully charged it shows full on camera display. I need to know as I spend long times waiting on wildlife which usually goes from nothing happening to its all happened so I need to leave the camera turned on all the time ..read more

Hi Cannonites, I'm having a couple of issues with my auto focus when shooting sports. Heres the stats
5d Mk4
70-200 f2.8 IS
F4.5 (for depth of field)
ISO 6400 or higher
1/1000th second
AI Servo single point
Back button focus
High speed drive mode
The majority of the images are fine but every now and then I get a few different issues.
Sometimes the focus point locks on and registers (using light room plugin to confirm in post) but yet the subject is not in focus, in fact nothing in the image...

I have some high-quality manually-focus Canon Cine EF lenses. They have digital contacts on the back (so they relay information to the camera), but they have no motors for focus or aperture.
I'm also a manual-focus shooter generally, going back to my film days, when the microprism at the center of the optical viewfinder worked great for me. In fact, I don't think I've ever shot an auto-focused photo in my life that I can recall, at least not one that I actually used for anything (I've of...

I'm looking for a portable battery solution for charging LP-E6 batteries in the field when I'm not near an AC outlet and don't have a spare battery (or if I have a spare and it's empty, too). You may be familiar with power banks that can charge smartphones. I ask because I just purchased an Anker 511 PowerHouse battery for charging laptops and other devices that has an AC outlet. Could that be used with the Canon LC-E6 charger? Or do you have another solution? Here's a link to what I bought...

My friend recently acquired the EOS-1V. Both my friend and I grew up with digital cameras. So we have little experience with film cameras. Her mom is a wedding photographer with experience with other EOS AF SLRs. But she doesn't know very much about this camera. If anyone has any information about this camera please join the conversation ..read more

Hi Guys!
I need your help, please!
My Eos R5 has some strange audio-issues with the built-in microphone. Recording of speech or sound in front of the cam is very silent. Sound or speech that appears on the left side of the body is recorded in normal volume.
The local Canon service center adviced me to buy an external mic for the flash-shoe, as it would be an very expensive repair.
Most times I record videos with this body, they are far away, so an microphone for distant sounds in front of...

Hello friends,
I was looking to get started in video, but none of my current DSLRs are capable.
Is there a resource that I can easily check the video crop of various Canon DSLRs and MILCs?
On a side note, how bad are ring-type USMs with regard to noise and focus jumping when used for continuous video AF ..read more

Hello,
I am a stills guy (and audio), but I am taking on a project to record some upcoming events and interviews with older family members whom I want to preserve to video before they pass. To that end, I got a Ninja V+ to add to my R5, but wanted to see what the general consensus was on the following:
1. I know 8k pro res raw only records at 10-bit color, and 5k pro res raw records at 12-bit, plus has the benefits of being downsampled, and allowing for 60p. Would it be better to record at...

I have used a Canon R5 for a month for video and photography. And recently, I started making real-estate videos.
The houses I shoot have dark spots, primarily when shooting towards a window, which results in digital noise and grain.
I use the C1Tv setting with auto aperture and auto iso. But I want to keep the iso down to prevent digital grain and noise.
I see that when using auto aperture and auto iso. The iso is upped first, and then the aperture. Lower the aperture to its lowest...
