When he earned the top seed for the 2023 PBA Tournament of Champions, E.J. Tackett stood one winning game from becoming the first player to win four of the first six tournaments in a PBA Tour season. He also stood one winning game from putting a hammerlock on 2023 PBA Player of the Year with four titles that include two majors in the first six tournaments of the year. It was a showdown of the last two PBA Players of the Year and it went down to the final frame, providing drama that had mostly been lacking from the first three of four stepladder shows of the 2023 PBA Tournament of Champions. Belmonte, the reigning and 7-time Player of the Year, held a 26-pin lead after six frames with a double and no opens, while Troup, the 2021 Player of the Year, had just one strike and an open on a pocket 7-10 in the fifth. But Troup switched from his urethane Storm PITCH... subscribe to read more ..read more

As someone who has battled through various bowling-related injuries that resulted in several operations, cortisone shots and other procedures, I have a soft spot in my heart for players battling injuries. Rick Steelsmith’s shoulder remains the biggest what-if injury in bowling history, but if back injuries for PBA Hall of Famer Wes Malott and Sean Rash and a wrist injury for Kris Prather end their careers as top-level PBA players it will be a big loss (or losses) for the PBA Tour. If... subscribe to read more ..read more
