Goals Set Equals Goals Achieved.

Being the kind of person who never believed in new years resolutions, I have realized that it comes down to goals set equals goals achieved. To me resolutions are just people saying “I want to change things I don’t like, so I resolve to (insert statement here).” A goal is something completely different, it is a person saying “This is what I want to achieve.” With that distinction it is easier, and better to have goals rather than resolutions. At the beginning of 2022 for the first time in many years I set some goals for myself to achieve. One because I had retired a couple of years before and ..read more

Bowl DMC consists of PBA Stars Darren Tang, Mikey Tang, and Chris Via, who bill themselves as “just like Run DMC only cooler.” They are great examples of the professional bowlers that I talked about in the article “Bowling In The 2000s, It’s Not Your Dad’s Game.“ Bowl DMC Image (courtesy bowlDMC.com) The three professionals who make up Bowl DMC are friends and members of “The House” who have been popular among the younger bowling fans for several years. Two are brothers Michael and Darren Tang, the third is Chris Via. Each one has his own style and his own presence on the lanes and is there t ..read more

Bowling In The 2000s, It’s Not Your Dad’s Game.

Bowling in the 2000s, not your father’s game. Bowling in the 2000s is a great example of the old R&B hit by Quincy Jones and Ighner says it best when he says “Everything must change, Nothing stays the same.” When I first started bowling in the 1980s watching bowling on television was akin to watching golf. The fans sat quietly waiting for the bowlers to throw a shot then mildly clapping at the results. Most of the bowlers did not celebrate good shots, or in a lot of cases did not even celebrate their victories. It was all very stoic. Although I loved watching bowling, the old-school way o ..read more

Is The USBC A Necessary Evil?
Big Rad Bowling Magazine
by Bradley Finnearty

Some of the bowling community believes the governing body, the USBC is a necessary evil, while others view it as evil, and some as just necessary. There is no doubt that any legitimate organized sport needs a governing body. Everyone from tennis has the International Tennis Federation (ITF), golfs is the United States Golf Association (USGA), and even corn hole has the American Cornhole Association (ACA). In bowling, it is the United States Bowling Congress (USBC). Is the USBC a necessary evil? The purpose of any sports governing body is to ensure fair rules for everyone who participates in t ..read more

Why Bowling Is A great Sport.

A colleague said to me that he did not think of bowling as a sport I had to disagree and tell him that bowling is a great sport. The unfortunate thing is that a lot of people feel that way. Probably due to the fact that it is the fastest-growing participation activity in America today. Maybe it is because from the very young to the disabled to the very old, almost anyone can do it. However, if you take it seriously it is definitely a sport. Bella Love Castillo at the Jimmy Allen PBA Clash When 13-year-old Bella Love Castillo was announced at the beginning of the Celebrity Super Clash I thought it was cute to have a young lady there, to give her a chance to meet and bowl with the celebs. Then I saw her win the competition. She was not intimidated by them at all. Of course, after the show, I had to do what I like to do. That is research the young lady. That is where my being impressed by her started to build. Bella is a very accomplished bowler, not only in the youth ranks but all around. The lady has game as they say. The evolvin ..read more
