A quite magnificent tonking of Luton Town saw resurgent Brentford at their most devastating on Saturday afternoon. It finished 5-1 but could easily have seen the Bees double that, such were the copious amounts of chances created. A raucous and packed away end cheering the team on from start to finish. Those who had been forced to secrete themselves amongst the home support pulling off a magic trick Harry Potter would have been proud of, so hard was it so stay quiet as the goals rained in. Honestly, Brentford were incredible. Make no mistake that Luton Town went in to this one with fangs ba ..read more

Brentford head to Kenilworth Road on Saturday knowing that a win would open up a 10-point gap between the Bees and that dreaded 18th spot on the Premier League log. Brentford travel to Luton Town on Saturday afternoon for a game where, all being well, Thomas Frank will have even more of that rarest commodity at his disposal. Namely, selection choice… Last week’s 2-0 defeat of Sheffield United at the Gtech saw welcome returns for long-term absentees Kevin Schade and Ethan Pinnock. Both players coming off the bench late with the former making an immediate impact when setting up Frank Onyeka ..read more

A 2-0 won for Brentford against an abject Sheffield United side at the Gtech saw the Bees ascend to 14th in the table on Saturday evening. It was a game where the result was never seriously in doubt although perhaps there had been a hope amongst fans when the teams were named that that the goals would flow. Not so much given the state of our visitors (for whom left-back Yasser Larouci endured a torrid afternoon) as the more attacking line-up that Thomas Frank began with. Resisting the temptation to start fit again Ethan Pinnock in the absence of in-form Kris Ajer, he instead chose to suppl ..read more

Brentford welcome Sheffield United to the Gtech on Saturday afternoon, looking as much for a win as to avenge one of the low points of the season. Namely, December’s reverse at Bramall Lane. The abovementioned result coming at the absolute depths of Brentford’s absentee crisis. The injury list deep and exhaustion clearly setting in. It was a game decided by one shot at goal. An effort where we could politely say that Mark Flekken was perhaps deceived by the flight and trajectory of James McAtee’s long-range strike. We can say that as much because, of course, Mark has since looked like a m ..read more

The thriller at the Villa. The proverbial game of two halves. Perhaps Fergie put it best: Football, bloody hell. Brentford and Aston Villa shared the spoils in a quite incredible 3-3 draw on Saturday afternoon. The Bees, who went 2-0 down just 33 seconds into the second half, turned things around in 9 remarkable minutes to come oh so close to achieving what many people thought impossible. Namely, a win in the blue away shirt. The castle badge branded kit, as gorgeous as it is unlucky and seemingly the only thing more jinxed than the Gtech posts, almost saw the albatross set free. Almost, t ..read more

PREVIEW: Busy Brentford head to Villa Park for third league game in eight days

Brentford face Aston Villa on Saturday for the last of a sequence that has seen 3 league games played out in just eight days. Following the scintillating 1-1 draw with Manchester United and then the somewhat more somnolent 0-0 with Brighton, Thomas Frank will be looking to make it another match unbeaten when we step out at Villa Park. A task made all the trickier given the Villan’s relentless form (only checked during the midweek humping at Manchester City) in the quest for a Champions League spot. That in itself, a race now down to five teams after hapless United ended their own already p ..read more

A second, successive draw for Brentford at the Gtech saw the spoils shared 0-0 with Brighton on Wednesday evening. Whereas Saturday night’s game with Manchester United had seen the Bees swarming all over their opponents as chance followed chance, the only thing in common this time around was the choice of Metallica for our ‘walk out’ music. The sandman entering then well and truly doing his job in a game which was one for the purists. Or the insomniacs.   That’s not to say Brentford were bad. Far from it. The same starting XI as that which played so magnificently against the Red ..read more

Saturday night’s 1-1 draw between Brentford and Manchester United at the Gtech was that game where everyone gave so much that even Matthew Benham must be close to earning selection to this week’s top five. His choice of Joe Dolce’s 1981 chart topper ‘Shaddap You Face’ as the half-time walk off music, as unsubtle a message to the opposition as any. It was that sort of evening though. Brentford on it from the first whistle and, despite the usual plethora of absences to an already thin squad, playing like the team chasing the European places. Like there was something worth fighting for as Uni ..read more

Footballing moments don’t come any bigger than this. Saturday night’s visit of Manchester United to the Gtech is a game that is sure to see the atmosphere through the roof. Not so much due to the historical reputation of our once great opponents but as much the current presence of Ivan Toney. Tuesday evening saw him not only emerge England’s most recent goal scorer but, in converting that first-half penalty, he became the first-ever Brentford player to find the back of the net for the Three Lions. I suspect it may be mentioned – and rightly so. What a quite incredible achievement for a pla ..read more

Brentford head to Turf Moor on Saturday afternoon for a game where victory will only increase the pressure on a Burnley side already 10 points adrift of safety. Brentford head to Turf Moor on Saturday afternoon for a game where victory will only increase the pressure on a Burnley side already 10 points adrift of safety. Make that 11 when you factor in the brutal goal difference being experienced by a team who haven’t won in the league since prior to Christmas. That said, they came awfully close last time out. Leading 2-0 against West Ham at half time, a much sought-after victory seemed we ..read more
