Greetings for the New Year! As you are well aware, Golf Garage was founded on the premise of providing everyone in India with a value-for-money golf equipment website, where individuals from across the country could purchase golf clubs at an affordable, value price. At Golf Garage, we have always been meticulous about the quality of clubs presented through our website. In July 2023, we began to notice that we were struggling to meet the specific demands of our clients. Occasionally, we didn't have the exact club someone needed, and other times we faced challenges with particular specificatio ..read more

Note: While reading through this always keep at the back of your mind that. this was my first look and play on the course without a dry run. Secondly, words such as steep, abyss, trek, expedition, summit and forest/ jungle, may be perceived as a Golfer, and necessarily not as a mountaineer. Of course I have just waded through my 75th year.  As I sat at Golf Garage for my day to day work, Rahul, my son, sent me the invitation from Raj Bhawan Golf Course (RBGC) Nainital to participate in RBGC Governor's Cup from 18-21 May 2023. Being a club Golfer, who plays for exercise and company of ..read more

Zen And The Art Of Playing Golf
Golf Garage Blog

Good golfers are always 'in' the game, especially before each and every shot. While to the onlookers, this may seem effortless, but there is so much going on in the mind of a golfer. This reminds of a scene in The Legend of Bagger Vance, where Bobby Jones steps up to the ball, to tee off. Will Smith tells Matt Demon to look at Jone's eyes, and tells him to observe how he looks at the field. He concentrates, takes his position, takes his practice swings, his mind and body in rhythm. The result is nearly perfect as a drive should be. This point of view may be far fetched and some may even object ..read more

Staying Sharp During the Lockdown
Golf Garage Blog

I hope you are all safe and staying indoors! I am sure most of you, like myself, are itching to get back on the golf course and the practice range. We are still not certain as to when the facilities will open but I think it will be one of the first few sports to make a comeback and we are definitely looking forward to that day. I've often been asked the question as to why some Pros play better than others even though they invest the same amount of time in practicing and hitting the gym. You may have also noticed that some players Pros/Amateurs/Juniors always play the same way even if the ..read more

Why do I suck at golf?

This is a question that has plagued me ever since I started playing the game. And it's a question that has persisted paradoxically, even while I've gotten better at the game over the years. The results  never seem quite commensurate with the slogging, and there's always a gnawing doubt that something else being the answer. It's led me to spending inordinate amounts of time on the practice range, endless hours on the internet looking for that magic move (it's gotta be the hips!) and ridiculous amounts of money on equipment for those crucial extra centimetres of distance. . . Over the past 40 odd days, golf courses across the country have all closed their doors owing to the Covid-19 lockdown. Outside of the golf courses, the clubhouses have also downed their shutters.      In the meantime, there are enough and more videos and links to news pieces, updates and advisories from across the globe floating around suggesting that golf is indeed a sport that honours social distancing norms, albeit with a few very minor adjustments. Last week there was one issued by GIA (Golf Industry Association of India) floating around too. O ..read more

Golf In India: Are we riding the wave yet?
Golf Garage Blog

When golf as a topic is picked in a social gathering, then the enthusiasts have anecdotes, regulars have wins to talk about and the remaining fill up with the most generic information like how it’s a sport for elite or maybe one or two will comment on the living legend, Jeev Milkha Singh. The sad part still remains that the percentage of people in that group who have never tried or even thought of trying this sport is the highest. What do we attribute this to? Lack of information or awareness, preconceived notion, or the fact that the sport is still not available so easily to the general mass ..read more

Easy Guide to Start Golfing
Golf Garage Blog

Are you one of those who wants to play golf but doesn’t know where to begin? Does entering a golf course intimidate you? Golf has carried the badge of being an elitist as well as expensive sport over the years, leaving many of its takers wary of walking into a golf course, especially if they haven’t ever had anyone golfing in their family. This is a general trend I have noticed. The new guy who has seen some golf on TV will find it intimidating to say the least before he enters the course, and for reasons which are rather legitimate. Golf for centuries has been seen as a colonial rich ..read more
