I inherited this microscope, but can't get to see anything from two of the objectives.

I have a little experience using microscopes, mostly from science class. I know how to prepare samples, and I don't think that's the problem, because I can see from one of the objectives (the one with lesser maginfication, which says 2/3). From the other two I see a dim and blurry image, and can't get to focus anything. Can someone point me to some guide, video or book that could help me? Could it be that the lenses are dirty? If so, is there a special lens liquid for cleaning them? submitted by /u/Sleiman7 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

For my 18th birthday I'm getting a microscope but I'm not sure which one to get or from where. So far I'm thinking that one but I don't know if it's worth it. Any advice? submitted by /u/10_pounds_of_salt [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Using Köhler Illumination on a Nikon labophot

I've been using a fairly old but amazing Nikon labophot microscope, which my instructor owns, not me. However, I have been given permission to use it whenever possible. I have my own at home, an extremely decent monocular, however I do not have many fancy features on it. I've been researching Köhler illumination for a while, and I believe this scope has it as there is a field diaphragm below the stage with a dial to adjust the aperture, as well as a height adjustable iris aperture directly above. I just wanted to ask if anybody has solid experience on using Köhler illumination effectively ..read more

A year after 2 hurricanes, my insurance company went bankrupt and I just got a third of the claim. Starting the repairs I bought a $70 electronic microscope with 100x and 2000x lense. I had a friend that ran the bio lab at NASA prepare the cultures. We used a pre-prepared nutrient Agar. Help ID them

I found bat guano in some walls and black mold in my ducts, I also did body fluid cultures that all look similar to these, I have had drastic changes in my health. My Dr. Does not think the two are related. I will post more. They do look like something the Hubble would take from deep space. submitted by /u/Emergency_Expert_766 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more
