Nathan Ken Louis On Nov. 30, 2023, Nathan Ken Louis, of 4484 Punee Road, Oma‘o, Hawai‘i, passed away at the age of 66 years old. He is survived by his brother Matthew J. (Avanell Kalalau-Louis) Louis, nephew Matthew A. Louis, grandnephew Anthony Louis, grandnieces Lily Louis and Diane (Nagahisa) Louis and niece Bridget L. Louis. In 1952, a survey of private collections of Hawaiian artifacts was made on Kaua‘i by Miss Mary Stacey, a member of Dr. Kenneth Emory’s class in anthropology at the University of Hawai‘i. Of particular interest to Miss Stacey and Dr. Emory was a unique stone bowl, which has the face, arms and legs of a grotesque person carved on its surface. The bowl was considered by them to be the finest example of ornamental stone carving in existence. Edie Ignacio Neumiller said when advocates of Human Trafficking Prevention took part in the Kaua‘i share of a statewide effort on Thursday, it was special because coordinator Eric Madden works on Kaua‘i, but lives in Honolulu. NAWILIWILI — The Waimea High School varsity girls team may have been first to the buoy on Saturday, but the Island School team beat the Menehune to the finish line during the Kaua‘i Interscholastic Federation long distance outrigger canoe paddling regatta at Nawiliwili Small Boat Harbor.
