So many of us believe a lie that keeps us paralyzed from taking action. This lie tells us that we have to wait until we “feel better” to accomplish anything of value. If you allow this lie to take root, it can actually be the very thing standing in the way of you getting healed.  Early on in my journey with postpartum anxiety, I believed that I was incapable of taking care of my daughter alone. I believed that I would only be able to take care of her on my own once I was over postpartum anxiety. And that simply couldn’t be further from the truth.  I was completely capable of caring f ..read more

For some time now, my oldest son, Abram, has wrestled with fear at night. Whenever it’s time for bed, you can visibly see the fear on his face. Every night we pray together in the living room as a family before heading upstairs to get the kids ready for bed. During this prayer time, for at least the past three years, he’s prayed every night not to have any [scary] dreams.  We all agree with him in prayer, go upstairs, brush the kids’ teeth and tuck the boys in for bed.  That’s been our routine for years now. Lately, however, he began asking Jere and I to pray over him again once he g ..read more

This year for the first time since Kyla’s birth in 2018, I had the opportunity to stay home alone with all 10 of my children (jk, I only have three, they just have energy of 10) for three days. If I’m honest this was a day I dreaded ever coming. I never thought I’d be capable of being alone with the kids for an extended period of time without any help. BUT, it went so much better than I could have hoped. This three day experience got me thinking about the progress I’ve made and lessons I’ve learned over the last three plus years. Let’s stroll down memory lane, shall we? August 2018:  Kyla ..read more

I coach women with postpartum depression and postpartum anxiety. It’s my life’s mission to help women naturally overcome ppd without medication. But, I’d be lying to you if I said I haven’t struggled with anxiety since I’ve learned the tools and put them into action.  GASP.  You probably thought “she has it all together.” I don’t.  I’d be lying if I said I’m always calm and content. I’d be lying if I said I’m always happy and upbeat. I’d be lying if I said I feel 100% well 100% of the time. And I care far too much about you to lie to you.  In case it needs to be said, anyon ..read more

In the last post, Birthing Pains, I shared a bit of the origin story of Defeat PPD. If you haven’t read it yet, I highly recommend reading that post first. Today’s post is a continuation of Birthing Pains where I share the vision for Defeat PPD both today and in the future.  Of course I start with a flashback because you need the backstory to understand where we’re headed and who doesn’t enjoy a stroll down memory lane? It’s nostalgic.  The date was August 23, 2016, I’d spent the last week or so going back and forth with my business coach pinpointing the audience I was meant to serve ..read more

It’s impossible to tell the origin story of Defeat PPD without first telling a little of my personal story. The two are so closely intertwined; you need my back story to understand the birth of Defeat PPD. For the sake of time, I’ll start my story back in early 2015. If this were a movie, I imagine a faded flashback scene with a younger version of me walking in stage left. I was a mom of two young boys. Abram was three and Lukey was one (yes, his name is Luke, but he strongly dislikes being called Luke). I was two months into working full-time at an amazing company that I planned to grow old w ..read more

If God Can Really Heal Postpartum Depression, Why Hasn’t He Healed Me?

The answer to the question seems obvious… of course He can heal you. Have you read the Bible? In just the New Testament alone Jesus healed 20+ people (and performed countless miracles) and those are just the ones written down. Knowing that God is fully able to heal likely brings another question…“Then why hasn’t He healed me?” That’s a great question and one that I’d like to dive into today. This is a question that I asked more times than I can count during my struggle with postpartum depression.  I remember one day in particular as if it were today (I know the saying is yesterday, but #m ..read more
