The past couple months, we have been nurturing and raising twenty six puppies in our program! We had Belle’s litter of medium Bernedoodle puppies, Winnie’s litter of mini Goldendoodle puppies, and Klaire’s litter of mini Berendoodle puppies. It has been quite the adventure watching these fabulous puppies grow and blossom. This weekend was quite the milestone in these litters. We did puppy picks for Belle’s bernedoodle puppies and Winnie’s goldendoodle puppies. I keep saying this, but this is such a joy-filled time, when we get to share what we know about the puppies with their new families to ..read more

Here at High Desert Family Doodles, the past couple weeks have been a whirlwind! We are in the middle of week three with our three current litters, of mini Goldendoodles, mini Bernedoodles, and medium Bernedoodles. All of the puppies are healthy and thriving, gaining weight and showing all the signs of healthy puppy development. We also have three more of our Goldendoodle moms - Honey, Luna, and Rosie - have come into season over the past two weeks. So, as good Goldendoodle breeders, we’ve been playing matchmaker with them and some of our Goldendoodle studs. In the midst of all of this, we se ..read more

This past week has been full at High Desert Family Doodles, because three litters arrived into the world. The first was Winnie’s mini Goldendoodle puppies, but this was quickly followed by Belle’s litter of medium Bernedoodle puppies. The last litter was Klaire’s litter of mini Bernedoodle puppies. It was an action packed week, as the first mini Goldendoodle litter was born late Monday night. Belle’s Bernedoodle litter was born late Wednesday night. Finally, Klaire’s litter of Bernedoodle puppies was born Saturday evening! There are 26 puppies between all three litters, and we love each one o ..read more

For all of you dog food enthusiasts out there, buckle up for this one from High Desert Family Doodles!
The FDA recently announced that there wasn’t sufficient evidence to prove a connection between grain-free dog food and the onset of non-genetic dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM).
You heard that right; the FDA does not think there is a connection between grain-free dog food and DCM.
There FDA’s exact words are that “they do not supply sufficient data to establish a causal relationship with reported product(s)”, meaning that our current studies and data analysis show no causal relationship with gra ..read more

In our journey to better understand our Goldendoodle & Bernedoodle puppies and adults, we recently red How Dogs Think; What the World Looks Like to Them and Why They Act the Way They Do by Stanley Caren. This was an informative and engaging read surrounding the mental hardware and lives of humanity’s best friend. Here are some key takeaways from the book about our Goldendoodles and Bernedoodles here in Oregon.

Yosemite - aka “Yose” - is a quirky, high spirited F1 Bernedoodle, who is also a future Oregon Bernedoodle mom for High Desert Family Doodles.
While she was born in Ohio, and resides with a guardian home here in Central Oregon, she has done her fair share of traveling. She’s spent some time around Tahoe during the winter. She fell in love with the snow, revealing her matriarchal Bernese Mountain dog roots as a Bernedoodle puppy.
Another fun fact is that she’s also named after California’s Yosemite National Park. Her guardian’s family has the tradition of naming their dogs after beloved locati ..read more

When people want to get a Bernedoodle, one of the main enticing traits is their unique tendency to be both relaxed and goofy at the same time. They can be both people lovers and warm solitary souls all I the same breath, and a lot of people find this very endearing (including me).
This is also a fitting description of our Bernedoodle stud, Remington - who also goes by Remi. Here at High Desert Family Doodles, we are excited for Remi to be a cornerstone in our Bernedoodle lines and would love to introduce him along his uniquely and lovably eccentric profile and personality.

Can Goldendoodles be healthy as they age?
We deeply desire to see our Goldendoodles and Bernedoodles thrive, so we are always learning and seeking new insights and wisdom.
One wise quote claims that “the two things that will help you grow the most over your next years are the people you meet, and the books you read.”
Books are an amazing source of knowledge and wisdom, and they’re a great resource for us in our journey towards increasing health and vitality for our Bernedoodles and Goldendoodles.
However, books can take a lot of time to read and distill. So from time to time, we’ll try to offe ..read more
