No surprise here that it’s 80% Kean, but he’s still got competition.
It’s the first Friday of the month, and that means it’s time to hop in the time machine and go a very short distance backwards again. With 9 goals in 5 matches (10 if you count David Goldar turning Sottil’s cross into his own net against Pafos, which for the purposes of this exercise I’m not), it’s not quite at October’s bonanza level, but there are still some worthy aspirants for you to choose from. Here are your 5 candidates, presented in chronological order.

The Viola open their Coppa Italia campaign with another Derby dell’Arno that’ll be even more emotionally charged than usual.
Fiorentina has made deep runs in the Coppa Italia the past couple years, reaching the final and the semifinal. On Wednesday, 4 December 2024, at 8:00 PM GMT/3:00 PM EST, it opens this season’s campaign in the competition with a local derby against Empoli at the Stadio Artemio Franchi. When these two met in the league a couple months ago, it ended in a deathly dull scoreless draw as the Vi ..read more

The midfielder is conscious, alert, and breathing fine in the hospital.
Fiorentina has announced that Edoardo Bove is okay. He’s still in the hospital but he’s awake, breathing fine, and alert. That’s the best possible news for everyone and it sounds like he’s out of the woods.
ACF Fiorentina has announced that Edoardo Bove, following an uneventful night, was awakened and extubated this morning. He is currently awake, alert and oriented. pic.twitter.com/plH78vHAxJ

Fuck, man. This is the worst thing.
In the 16th minute of Fiorentina’s huge game against Inter Milan, there was a break in play while the referees discussed a decision. While the players stood around, Edoardo Bove collapsed on the pitch. It took a moment for everyone to figure out what was going on, but players from both teams immediately surrounded him to keep the cameras off him. After a few minutes, the medical crew got him onto a stretcher and into an ambulance.

No surprises from either side, which feels right for a knock-down, drag-out between sides tied for second.
Late news
Fiorentina mister Raffaele Palladino starts his clear first XI. Albert Guðmundsson is on the bench, although it’s the first time he’s been in the squad for a month and a half. Inter Milan boss Simone Inzaghi follows a similar approach, trotting out his top lineup, so nobody’s trying to spring any surprises here.
While the away support is sitting this one out to protest ticket prices, the home fans are certainly showing up; they’ve been in ..read more

The Viola snatch a narrow victory from the jaws of self-inflicted defeat.
Pre-match
Raffaele Palladino did the thing. He started Lucas Martínez Quarta in central midfield. The rest of the side was also heavily rotated: Fabiano Parisi, Rolando Mandragora, Riccardo Sottil, Jonathan Ikoné, and Christian Kouamé all came into the side, although the real story was Marin Pongračić returning to the XI for the first time since 5 September.

Some weird stuff going on in that Viola XI.
Late news
Fiorentina manager Raffaele Palladino has finally done it, you sickos. Lucas Martínez Quarta draws the start in midfield next to Amir Richardson. Marin Pongračić also returns to the XI for the first time in 2 months, along with Pietro Terracciano, Fabiano Parisi, Rolando Mandragora, Riccardo Sottil, Jonathan Ikoné, and Christian Kouamé. Pafos boss Juan Carlos Carcedo has gone to a very defensive 3-4-3 that’ll probably look more like a 5-4-1, although it could also morph into a 4-2 ..read more

The Viola grit out a good win at the Sinigaglia.
Pre-match
Cesc Fabregas trotted out old friend Patrick Cutrone to lead the line and wear the armband. Raffaele Palladino welcomed Danilo Cataldi back from injury as part of the no-doubt, first-choice XI. The funnier part was seeing Chris Pine and Benedict Cumberbatch in the stands. Never would’ve guessed them to be Lariani supporters but here we all are, spinning around the sun on this big rock.

No surprises as the Viola get back into action after the international break.
Late news
Como manager Cesc Fabregas (weird phrase to write) opts for Marco Sala on the wing in place of the injured Gabriele Strefezza and rotates Federico Barba in for Marc-Oliver Kempf at the back. Old friend Patrick Cutrone will lead the line and wear the armband, with slightly newer friend Andrea Belotti on the bench. Fiorentina boss Raffaele Palladino trots out his best XI, with Danilo Cataldi back in the lineup after a month away.

We’re delving deep into inane questions at the tail end of this international break.
It’s the international break and that means it’s time for some seriously international break content. To preface this, I’ve got a a stupid and unprovable thought experiment that’s constantly running in the background of my mind. It’s one of the ways I compare players across positions and determine which of them is Better. Join me in trying to figure out: If you took every current Fiorentina player and cloned him 10 times, which XI would be the best across an entire season? I ..read more
