I once learned a valuable lesson in sales when I was remodeling my house.
I purchased a home in Phoenix back in 2010. When I bought it, the family room looked like this:
I had a bunch of plans for fixing it up, including new wood flooring, new trim, fixing up the built-in, and covering the fireplace hearth in brick. Now if you've ever been through a home renovation, you know how exhausting it can be and how many endless decisions you have to make. In many ways, it's like planning a wedding. You don't have a whole lot of experience or knowledge of the industry, but you need to make gazillio ..read more

Today's featured album design was our very FIRST design for New Jersey based wedding photographer Brenna Marie. I always think photographers who try out our service for the first time are brave. After all, they are taking a little bit of a risk trying out a new service and I'm sure they're not sure what they're going to get. But Brenna's step of faith paid off in this case because LOOK AT THIS ALBUM!! Brenna had this printed through Miller's Lab and she was so kind to send us some images. And talk about a smooth process -- this design from start to finish took NINE DAYS. As in, the design or ..read more

We have had the pleasure of working with Ohio wedding photographer Jessica Vidmar for 4 years now. Jessica provides large albums for her clients with lots of images in them. This particular album we are featuring today has 40 spreads (80 pages) and features over 200 images! It goes without saying that larger album designs allow for more room to tell the story of the wedding day and do it justice! And we are here for it!
If you are curious about best practices for how to manage your clients' expectations for album length, or how many spreads it will take to feature a set number of images, chec ..read more

We get questions all the time from photographers (especially those who are just starting to offer albums to their clients) about which album companies we recommend. Choosing an album company for printing and binding can be a daunting task. After all, there are more than 100 out there to choose from -- all with numerous album styles and options. It's completely overwhelming -- where does one even START!?
There are two suggestions I have for finding a good album company to partner with:
1 -- Ask other photographers who are further along in their journey who they would recommend. Chances are ..read more

How many of you wish you could sell more albums? Do you find it difficult to find clients who see the value of an album and are willing to pay the additional cost to include one in their package?
This has been a dilemma I've dealt with as a wedding photographer as well. What I've found is that if I don't value albums and prioritize them for my clients, they typically won't value them either. If you want to sell albums, you have to prioritize them. Here are a four tips for how to do so:
1 -- Share your passion for albums with your clients. Let them know that out ..read more

DC-based photographer Abby Grace has recently retired from wedding photography and transitioned into brand photography. We are wrapping up the last few wedding designs of her career and it is so bittersweet! We have loved working with her and her beautiful timeless imagery for nearly a decade. We are so thrilled for her that she is KILLING it in the brand space but we will miss the process of laying out her beautiful images to tell a story in an album. We are savoring these last few designs like the last few bites of pumpkin pie after Thanksgiving! haha!
We always customize our designs to our ..read more
