With plant-based food businesses, festivals, and pop-ups booming, it’s clear that veganism is becoming a global phenomenon. Over the last five years, people have started to make more informed food choices, driven by a growing awareness of the impacts of animal agriculture on climate change, health, and animal welfare. Not surprisingly, food chains are rising up to meet this demand: Wagamama has a new vegan menu, Pizza Hut, Pizza Express, and Zizzi all offer vegan pizzas, and Guinness recently changed its traditional non-vegan brewing process.

We are finally here with the official after-movie of the first Vegan Street Festival 2018.
It was such a huge success and we really feel like the video grabs all of the amazing things that happened that day! From people discovering and enjoying vegan food, to the good weather (in Brussels what?!), vegan wine, dancing to great music, the talks, and so much more. It was a huge celebration and I think we are not alone when we say it truly filled our spirits and our energy levels to continue spreading a positive vegan message.

As a part-time Madrileña since about 3 years, I’ve come to known this city inside out, including its vegan and vegan friendly eateries. While people seem to think the Spanish experience is incomplete without jamon iberico and huevos rotos, I beg to disagree. I love the standard plant-based tapas such as pimientos de pardon (spicy green peppers), tomate assado (tomato carpaccio) and patatas bravas. In Madrid however, you can discover so much more and vegan restaurants have been popping up all around town.
Here, a plant-based journey to the new ‘City of Love’.

You may think of the Holidays as a vegan as that awful time where your not-so-close relatives question your life choices and you are forced to endure a miserable evening on cold side salads as the only vegan options. Hopefully, this post will cheer you up a bit and have you enjoy these dreadful days more than you used to.
Events in Belgium:
Dec 9 - Le Noël des Animaux au Rêve d'Aby
Get your gifts, decoration and animal hugs at this beautiful animal sanctuary in Namur. Why not adopt a saved animal for your vegan cousin or grumpy uncle?

One day, I called La Cantina to book a table, but mostly to find out if they had a vegan dish on the menu. The answer was no. But that same evening, we did not find a pleasant place to eat and we therefore went to check at the source if a vegan option was available. Well, yes. The dishes are not mentioned on their website, but as a starter I could taste manioc fries and their vegetarian dish (vegetable curry with plantain banana). I don't know if it was the atmosphere of the place or the "surprise" effect, but I really loved both preparations. To garnish the dishes, there is manioc flour cooke ..read more

We were honoured to veganize the latest event of our festival DJ's, brothers Nicolas and Jerome Ronsmans. They threw a great party at La Vallée with sounds by Fata Morgana Family, BeatuniQue and BAUM to launch the newest addition to their family: Mate Beer.
A beer that combines the knowledge of traditional plants with the ancestral brewing skills of hermits. This unique beer with antioxidant minerals contains 3.5g Yerba Maté per liter, and two delicious slices of bread. A great refreshment for the summer!
Our chefs Linda and André (Voodoo Vegan) combined this fresh brew with seitan to prepare ..read more

This weekend we got to feast on an immense buffet of fresh, homemade Syrian dishes made by the lovely people at We Exist.
We Exist is an organisation created and managed by Syrian people giving first-time arrivals an easier way into the workforce. You can taste the love for fresh homemade food in every bite! This is truly authentic food. They financed their restaurant through growdfunding last year but had to close shop after a couple of weeks because of you-know-what. In the meanwhile, you can order takeaway or delivery from Wednesday to Sunday (12h00 - 18h00) via their website.

Green House is a cozy new eatery right off of Avenue Louise. They serve a fully vegan buffet with plenty of options: raw, cold and warm, from salads and soup, to burgers, vegan cheese, sushi... a whole array of fresh and delicious items! Drinks such as fresh smoothies, wine, and raw cakes can be ordered separately.
You can feel and taste the dedication this team puts into their preparations. A true joy and a great new asset for Brussels’ vegan scene.

Strofilia is a Greek restaurant located at the Marché aux Porcs for 20 years. The interior is composed of two distinct atmospheres: one rather contemporary, white and elegant furniture, and the other rather rustic, wine cellar, but just as elegant. One of the restaurant's great assets, apart from its cuisine, is its hospitality and service: the staff is there to guide you with their advice: which dishes, how much, which wine... You almost don't need to open the menu. Since a few months, the restaurant has added some 100% vegan recipes. Here are some of them: yellow split pea purée, caramelised ..read more
