Cosy, comfortable and relaxing with great views! That’s just one of the 5 star reviews for this successful log cabin retreat near the Malvern Hills. Emily and Ryan got in touch with us to help them realise their dream of opening a holiday let on their farm. They were interested in a one bedroom cabin and decided that our ‘Wagtail’ design would suit their needs perfectly. As this log cabin can be classed as a caravan/mobile home, permission was a lot easier, and by going down this route, they knew they wouldn’t have the headache of Building Regulations control either. Most of our customers choose to leave their interior cabin walls undecorated and natural. However, Mr G has combined imagination and creativity and fitted out this stunning mobile home. It’s one of our ‘Brambling’ model caravan/mobile homes but extended slightly to allow for a larger living/kitchen area. He also chose our sash windows and two sets of aluminium bi-fold doors to take advantage of those countryside views. Three Velux roof windows allow extra light in the bedroom, bathroom and kitchen. Our thanks to Mr G for sending us the photos and taking the time to compile a list of the Sado ..read more

Roof trusses – what are they & when do you need one?

A roof truss is a structure designed to support the purlins and roof on a log cabin. They can be near flat as on a Moderna style cabin or pitched as with a Classic, Cottage or Dutch style cabin. The maximum unsupported span is 4800mm, so any cabin over this size will need a roof truss or trusses depending on the ‘eaves’ length. The standard is a closed roof truss where the triangle (in the case of an apex roof) is solid. You can also choose an open frame truss as an optional extra (and cost). These become standard for gables over 6000m. If you are dividing your cabin into rooms then it is pr ..read more
