In a short trip today I found some sort of Hyppochrenes (Rostellaria). Does anyone know some resources where I can read about differences between species of Hyppochrenes or gastropods in general? I know there are two volumes of Conchyliologie systématique et classification méthodique des coquilles but my french it's almost inexistent.     I found this in the NW part of Romania in eocene limestones (Priabonian if I remember well). Sorry for not having a scale for the picture, it was kinda unexpected, but it roughly two kilos ..read more

Hello all,   I’ve heard of seller buying boxes of fossils from the Kem Kem formation to resell it. I think it would be fun to get a box and determine it myself but these sellers charge steep prices after cherry picking everything interesting out.   i tried to contact Ihmadi trilobites center nearby there through TripAdvisor but didnt get a reply. Prefferably, I would like to get it straight from the diggers, but other means are okay too.   anybody know someone reliable for this ..read more

Hello,   I am new to the forum and trying to educate myself on my home state's paleontology and geology. I am wondering if anyone knows of a site that contains a list of all fossil species that have been found in Kentucky. I read on University of Kentucky's website that 4,000 species identified in the state, but cannot find a list. If anyone could help me out or point me in the right direction, that would be amazing. Thank you ..read more

@CDiggs This past Thursday, my mom called me and said she ran into a lady she'd know since she was little but hadn't seen her in a long time. The lady asked if her son, me, was the guy who fossil hunts. My mom said yes, and the lady said she has some bones she'd like me to have.  So my mom got her contact info and I called and met up with her.  When I arrive we go to her storage and in 3 boxes are all of these massive bones.  It turns out years ago her ex boyfriend collected these and he passed away 12 years ago. So they've sat in storage all this time. She didn't know what to d ..read more

Rare four-jet Echinocorys ?

Hello, I dont know if this should belong in questions and answers or general fossil discussion. Well, I have a very, very worn Echinocorys seaurchin that I've found in denmark. Only the oval shape, and flat bottom suggest it beeing one, but the top is interesting. At first glance, I only see FOUR jets instead of five. Can someone say if its really so, and how rare this would be ? Thanks ..read more

Fossils in FL panhandle(?)

Hello,   I hope this is the appropriate location to post this question, my apologies if it isn't.   Does anyone have advice or location suggestions for fossil hunting in the Florida panhandle region? The few locations that have been suggested to me *appear* to not legally allow collecting. I am alright with just observing, but my preference is to have the option to collect. Any help would be greatly appreciated ..read more
